Check out the multi tool belt sander attachment for bench grinders. It works great easy to swap out belts and a pretty good variety as well.

Not exactly what you were asking for but for what its worth, my Wilton 4200A (combination 12" disc and 6" belt sander) work great.

I have an EllisMfg. 2.5x60 Horz belt sander and also use a RadiusMaster 2x48 belt sander from Trick Tool's. They both work awesome.

I have a Ryobi I bought from HD. I don't use it a whole bunch, and for limited use I think it is fine. It was about $100, and again, for limited home use, I think it fills the bill. If you are doing a really big project or want a real heavy duty machine, I would keep looking.
Just my $.02.

I have a Matco bench grinder with the multi-tool attachment. Even thought it is one of the smaller ones, it works great. Another Craigslist find.

I have a stand-up 2 in wide belt sander with a HD baldor motor and heavy pedestal. It is the tool I use the most and is fantastic for fabrication and weld prep. With a 36 grit belt it takes things down in a hurry.
