Hello all! I am in need of a set of motor mounts for my 71 Firebird that I am dropping an LS engine in with a TKO 600. Not sure if I want it in the standard location or forward or set back. The car is going to be more of a mild pro touring car. I have also heard that the tunnel needs modified with the installation of the 6 speed. Anyone out there in G Land have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!:knokwood:

I'd use the entire Holley/Hooker setup, i did and everything fits good. My headers are a little low for my liking but we're working on a solution for that.. But i'm not sure how the crossmember would fit up as those are design'd for a t-56. There are some good posts on NastyZ28 (which is a 2nd gen Camaro forum) but your info for that would be the same....good site with a load of good info....

Thanks Mike! How low is your car? I want mine to sit as low as possible and still be drivable.

My car is slammed, well pretty low, the headers sit 2.375 at there lowest point, which is fine....

If you decide to use Stainless Works 2nd gen LS swap headers they come with the correct engine mounts. If you would like me to price a set for you shoot me a PM

Glassman, any photos of your engine bay? I tried to sift through Nasty....not much luck.

Which Holley mounts did you use? I don't want the engine sitting too far forward.

I notched my crossmember so I could sit low enough and give the pan plenty of clearance. I made my own mounts for the engine and trans, took a few hours but was worth it.

I don't have a crazy budget, so I am trying to go as thrifty as possible.

It cost me $20 in metal and welding material, swap mounts are around $120 I believe and then the transmission cross member probably isn't cheap.

The Holley stuff is very reasonable and pretty well sorted out...

I have a transmission crossmember that came with the TKO 600 kit from American Powertrain so I wouldn't need the one in the kit. Guess I could sell it...lol

Probably go with the Holley kit.
