I was building a Mustang like almost everyone else...lol. it was almost complete and then a friend of my Chassis guy had a deal I could not pass up.
A 2004 5.7 GTO 25xxx miles zero accidents, on stands waiting for the narrowed 9" to be put in and a cage but he lost interest. so a incredible deal was struck and it was mine. I sold my mustang roller and ended up only $700 out of pocket for the GTO. The hole was for the 6.0 with a Hogan carb intake. I was not a complete motor. also had new twin 76mm turbos 2 waste gates and blow off valve.
I already had a built 5.7 Windsor so I figured why not.....
scrapped the 6 point cage in favor of a 25.2 chassis 20 inches of wheel clearance per side. Cage and sheet metal should be finished by Feb 22nd.

Windsor GTO

Leaving compression at 12.48 looking to run E85 as the supermarkets sell it here in the gas stations.
Going to sell off all the LS parts and turbos soon.

Finishing the cage welds.
Windsor GTO
02-05-2014, 07:13 PM
the cage is almost finished being welded up. Roof X-brace and dash bar was cut notched and tacked in. Front thru the firewall bars will be mocked up this weekend. Once that is welded the rear frame rails will be cut out and the 4 link brackets will be welded in. looking to sheet metal in the trunk back seat area in a week or so. I will get more pics in a couple days.

Windsor GTO
02-15-2014, 03:56 PM
So I scored a nice deal on rear tires and wheels. BUT, looks like I need to narrow the rear a little bit....
Windsor GTO
02-16-2014, 05:57 PM
Well close to finalizing the rear. looks like another 1and1/2 inches off each side will place the wheels in nicely.
Windsor GTO
03-13-2014, 04:58 AM
So here is a list of what has been done;
Front k memeber is now gone
Flip the spindles from right to left to get rid of the rear steer
Manual chrome rack fitting this week
custom k memeber in fab now
Differential now narrowed to 43 3/4" overall
New 35 spline axles on order
trial fit of engine starts this week

Sorry everyone, the chassis guy working on my car had a bad slip and fall, Broken elbow and torn ACL.
he is back at it now and swamped from being out. The headers will be finished this weekend and the tin work in the back of the car will begin.
I am waiting for the ladder/4 link bars to get back from coating, did them in wood grian to mess with the tech inspectors at the track.
Afoc Big Gun adjustible shocks came in as well as the 2 fuel cells.
Engine setup changed a little, I had too much time to think:hairpullout:
Changing out the short block, power adder and the intake set-up. Oh and the transmission.
And my hood

x2 I like that wood covering.
That's a monster blower.
Windsor GTO
06-26-2014, 07:55 AM
Yeah I really thought it would be funny watching the NHRA tech look under the car and BAM! Broom stick?
The blower is a Procharger F1X with a front mount bracket. The radiator will be horizontially(more of an angle actually) mounted with a dual blow thru fan set-up.
The new engine is a Dart Iron eagle filled with Callies Crank, Oliver Billet Rods, Racetec pistons and a Danny Bee belt drive.

Well finally got enough spare time to start the interior sheetmetal. Made both tubs last night. They are freaking huge but it allows me to slam the car low and not worry about tire growth or shake. ended up 44' front to back with an average width of 23". First time making them so it was pretty cool. Once everything is fitted it all goes out for hydrocoating.
