Best cam for LS7?

Hi all,

I'm also looking at the option of running a new, stock GM LS7. I actually already have a dry sump system, so it would work out nicely.

I would prefer to have a little more HP and TQ. What's the easiest way to do this? My target is 600HP and 600TQ.

My assumption is a cam is the best way to do this. If so, I have some questions. Everyone loves the sound of cam lope, but I'm not entirely sure how it impacts an engine.

Few questions:


How does it impact the driveability?
How does it impact the performance?
How does it impact the reliability?

the Katech Torquer LS7 110 or 116LA are probably the most popular and one of the only brands i trust for the LS7. But to get to your goal you will have to port the heads...West Coast Cylinder heads has a good CNC setup that combined with the Torquer cam will get to where you want to be.

p.s I have a stock LS7 and it makes enough low end torque and high rpm power to satisfy me without mods! unless your trying to win races or need to brag about power...that motor needs no mods

Call EnglandGreen in Houston Texas. They are mainly a Corvette tuner, but know LS engines as well as anyone. The Katech is a nice cam, but it leaves A LOT on the table!! There are some nice cams out there that yield much better gains with just as good driveability.

Brian Tooley Racing did a cam for the fastest heads/cam Z06 in the country. You tell him what you want and he'll have it made by Comp Cams. $400
Great guy to work with. He can also supply dual springs, pushrods, and other parts needed.
