I was told its best to post project / project up-dates here.
The car is a 1973 Porsche 914. Lots of V8 cars built over the years.
This is my second one and want to share it with you and hope to get
input because I'm not as smart as I think I am. :underchair:
I'm going to run a (corvette unit) LS1, got some good heads should put out around 400 hp and use a G-50 five speed transmission, likely cable shifter type. The car is framed up to fit the 996 front and rear suspension. It will have power steering and brakes and weigh around 2400 pounds.
Here are some pictures not in order of build up to this date.

Took everything apart and am going to spray it with a rust inhibitor.

Blasted all the aluminum and painted it up

Very nice project. I've been tempting to get a 914 to play with.

I love this project! (closet PCar fan)

Tell me, did you have to do anything to mate the g50 to the LS motor? I've read about mid-plates and clocking issues. Also, are you using any retrofit parts from Renegade? If so, what do you think of them?

Look forward to your updates!

Renegade is a good place to get parts to this type of project. There is a few places you can get adepter plates and with the transmission depending on its original position in the donor car (Porsche 911) you just flip it 180 degrees. The G-50 is a widely excepted unit. There are a ton of different G-50 units. From 2k to 30k. Mine is on the lowest end at this point. Changing the gear ratios is a important task to take on. These are designed to work well with a high revving 6 cylinder and really need some work to match well with the LSx engines. It does get expensive but the wrong gear ratio can kill a project. I'll be doing some ratio changing once I get things on the road. Its a 5k investment to start.:D

You are being "told" to post more. I love this concept--I've seen a few 350 versions of these and loved the contrast of motor sound and euro-go-cart. With stock-looking wheels, or even Fuchs, this, in my opinion, is one of the premier definitions of a sleeper. At many points, I've been inclined to build one...
