Ok, so I just got my car back from the shop! Upgrades are:

Tremec TKO 600
Pedal Assembly
Drive shaft
New Exhaust System
New Dash
AutoMeter Carbon Gauges
Holly HP carb
New Fuel Line
Air Cleaner
Dyno'd at 310 rwhp 300 tq

Complete disk break upgrade will go on during the holidays. It's my coming home present to Ole' Red!

So, I might have some additional funds to spend soon. Given what I just did, new breaks coming this week.....how would you spend another $10k?

LS swap

I can't believe it took 15 posts before this came up.
This would however add nice resale value to your already nice car. LS3/t56...

How about a tiger cage, and nice interior upgrades?

Sounds like he has sunk a bit into his power plant as it is.
If you can do a nice LS swap with all the fixin's for 10K that would be great. a good engine, mounts, an appropriate trans, cooling system, electrical system, PCM, program, fuel injection fuel system, air intake, headers, exhaust and labor can add up.

Even with a junkyard LS/T56 swap, that would leave very little for wheels and tires which this car deserves IMHO.

put a complete Ridetech level 2 coil over suspension kit on it (http://www.ridetech.com/store/1967-1969-chevy-camaro-coilover-system-level-2.html)! that's 4000.00 bucks of the 10 gs car will drive 10 times better, spend a little on new wheels and tires to go on those new disc brakes, and with the left over funds, take a driving school

All great thoughts! I appreciate every one! LS would be nice, but this one gets the job done for now.
I have been tossing around the idea of some suspension parts. Definitely need some new subframe bushings! Really want a mini-tube with the wheels and tires to go with it...need to do some serious research first!

Thanks guys, any additional advice will be well received!

Unless you have the fabrication skills to install the mini tubs I could see that eating the entire $10K by the time you buy wheels depending on what wheels you buy. Once you make the leap to a 335 tire it requires a 12" wide wheel which narrows down the field of wheel manufacturers to something that's multi-piece and custom backspacing and significantly more expensive, the mini tub kit plus shocks and fuel tank will be near $2,500, and then there's the cost to install the tubs, Vince could give you an idea of that cost but the remaining $1,500 or so may not be enough to cover the labor to install the tubs.
I think Rod has the plan that will give you the most bang for the buck if you stay with a moderately priced wheel.

Best advice EVER in the entire Universe.

Like most things car related -- doing the RIGHT things makes the most dramatic difference. After that - it gets expensive. LOL

Exhaust that doesn't hang so low/custom passenger header and pipes.
6 point roll cage

The local cage fabrication shop quoted me 2600 for a full 6 point with low door bars. Reasonable no?

This is what I would do if I had the money. I just spent my wad on the car and parts for the ls swap but I ALMOST did the suspension first. If I had an extra 10k I'd do the suspension and probably wheels and tires.

The question you need to ask youself is "What do I want to do with this car and how much am I willing to put into this car?"

If you plan on spending another $10K - $20K or more in the next year or so, keep your $10K in the bank and save more money. If you have some major plans for the car, it would be a waste of money buying something you will not use later.

If you are going to keep the budget down with this car, buy some nice bolt-on suspension components (Hotchkis, Ridetech, DSE, and use the stock sub frame, good shocks, wheels, and tires.

Good luck!

Man are your priorities ever messed up... Tits? Really? Dude -- when all the machinery gets into high gear - they just get lost in the shuffle... You shoulda paid cash for the car - it gets used more.

^^^ Take heed. He knows what he's talking about.^^^
If you are dead set on more modifcations then I think you have to go with what most of the guys are saying. Suspension, wheels, tires and big brakes.
You've got a solid engine already.

I completley agree Greg, but I'm more of an @$$ man myself.

His wife has more money in aftermarket parts that some of the guys' cars on this site.

Lots of good suggestions.

If it were me, I'd do:

- Hydroboost
- Global West Del-A-Lum bushings in front suspension, subframe, rear leaf springs
- Subframe connectors (don't recall if you had them)
- Some form of spring / shock upgrade, possibly coil-overs in front
- Good sway bars
- Tilt column
- Change A/N fittings to black, maybe move the regulator
- Change the coolflex hoses, gates clamps all around
- Vintage Air
- Seats / Belts (don't know what you have, but good seats make a HUGE difference
- Upsize the wheels / lower profile tires, keep the vintage look, Rockets make good low-buck retro wheels

Thank that would fit in $10k?

Great suggestions so far. I'll throw in my $0.02.

-If you have $$$ left over from the guys' suggestions, add AC since you're from Tx, and if you're planning to drive the car more often.
