Hi guys:

I just lost the 454 out of my 1997 K2500 Suburban. It died with 210k (RIP), but it was an off road, road trip, Tractor Hauling Beast.

With the Rancho Suspension, Heavest Bumpers I could find in case I got stuck, Winch, Lights, Hauling Rack, Nerf Steps, 34 inch KDW's, the truck itself probably weighed 8-9k pounds. The Trailor I pulled is primary for my tractor. The trailer loaded was just shy of 12k.

The 454 had everything that Banks used to make for a BBC which should have had the torque in the 550 pound feet, and Hp about 450.

Between the programming of the computer, cool air Box, Headers 3 inch exhaust it was marginal from a "Felt Safety" feeling when trying to pull my big trailer. You didn't want to see a car anywhere close before you started to get HWY speed.

4L80e Tranny

Ran a 12 Bolt 4:11 Posi in the rear
=======================
Problem: (Other than the obvious) If I buy a slightly used truck of similar size I will have to do a hell of a lot of work and spend $$$ to it to bring it up to where my current truck is, outside of buying the truck (2-3 year old)

Would like to see if I could get into a large displacement LSx of some number, and buy at the same time a 6L80e for it. (The current 4L80e is slipping pretty bad and will need to be taken down soon and replaced)

Anyone know who could do this and/or sell kits to do this?

Option:

Buy another BBC (Top end is gone on the right bank, Bottom end may have followed suit)

===========================
Very Very Important.

Which ever way I go I need to have the truck not necessarily need computers if BBC.

Installation of either engine, engine/tranny needs to be as plug and play as possible..

Please give me your best shots if you have the time.

Names and links would be a mechanical wet dream.

I live just North of Dallas Texas if you know someone who has also done the conversions, please don't be shy.

Thanks in advance,

Ty O'Neal

Personally, I think I'd slap another 454 in it. It looks like a rebuilt unit can be had for $2300 or so.

I'm not sure what part of the country you're from but I searched car-part.com and there are quite a few engines on there including remans and one with only 12k out of a motor home.

I'm on my second engine swap of the year. The first a SBC and the second being a LS1. As I'm sure you know, its fun but always costs twice as much as you think and for something you use to pull and travel its far more practical and way cheaper (in most cases) to stay with the engine it was born with.

Of course, if you've got the money and time to burn and want to go for it, I'm all for that as well!

Isn't Mario trying to peddle a BBC beasty? :stirthepot:

My thoughts are stick with the BBC. If you were going to go through the trouble of a conversion, then a Duramax makes waayyy more sense than an LS. Just as plentiful and the same basic things need to be converted. Plenty of conversion support out there. Doubtful you would ever need another Duramax once you converted....

"Okay its back up for sale. Purchaser forgot to tell his wife he was buying a big ticket item!:BlahBlah: So the price is down to $8800.00 now, I kept the $200.00 deposit he sent me. I'm going to make the same deal I made him. I will still pick up the shipping, plus I understand the fact that its not brand new. So hears the deal you can send me half the money I will send the motor to you . You then have ten days to install the engine and make sure everything is good then you can send the other half . If for some reason something is wrong I will pay to ship it back and fully refund your money. All transaction will be done using pay pal so both party's are protected . Any question just pm me. Oh and please tell your WIFE, SON ,DAUGHTER , FATHER , MOTHER, AUNT,UNCLE ,SISTER,BROTHER ,ETC,ETC."
