I’m building a 69 camaro The problem I have is all the panels are aftermarket the quarters, rear tail light panel and the filler panel. And I have all the panels clamped down ready to weld. But the trunk opening is about ½ bigger than the trunk. If the opening is the only problem, I can fix that easily. But I don’t want to weld everything in place and find out later that the rear window opening is wrong as well. If anyone can help with measurements from the top of the rear quarter peak to the other rear quarter peak, at the bottom of the filler panel and the same measurement at the tail lamp panel. And maybe the rear window opening across the top and bottom of the rear window I would appreciate your help.
thanks

When I have tackled similar projects in the past I would use small self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the panel before welding. You don't need a lot of them and you remove them as you start to spot weld. Basic measurements are cool but I trial fit everything anyway before the mig comes out.

at the moment I don't have a rear window or the chrome to fit to the opening. so id like to get a rough idea if window opening is in the ball park. thanks

Buy the windows and then you won't have to worry about it going forward. the complete window set is about 580.00 from classic industries.

I guess I could get the glass. the car is along way from needing glass. some one simply measuring there window opening would have been a great help. I went to harbor freight bought 10 more vice grips. I worked the rear quarters for about 3 hrs a little trimming here and there. I was able to tighten up the gaps on the trunk. So I started welding everything in.

It's good to have the glass/trim in place to check for fitment before final weld. It sure will suck when everything is welded, and the back glass does not fit.
Back to your issue, try using ratchet strap to see if you can pull the opening tighter. I have not done it myself but have seen others done it.
