I've lived here all my life (55 yrs) and we don't see numbers like this very often. Since 1902 only 5 negative temps have been recorded. -3 and -4 twice and -12 once in 1972.

The amount of freeze damage to structures will be interesting, plumbers will be in high demand most likely. Auto repair should be busy as well based on the number of curb contact incidents I've witnessed in the last two days.

Siegster, you'd be proud of me! Yesterday was the first time on the Katoom in almost two years (with the exception of a dual sport ride this summer) and we went to Stoneyford. My club canceled the ride due to the unusual amount of snow (base is at 1700 feet). So they loaded up the rigs and left about 12ish..

Me and my two buddies i went up with, "wintered" up and rode. Started climbing & riding (actually skiing on two wheels) got pretty far as the snow was a very dry snow and we had quite a bit of traction. Never been so sore from only running nine miles. Two hours, till a flat and bent rim took one of my buddies bikes out (probably a rock/boulder under the snow)

We hit 18" of snow at one or two times riding, but man was it fun!

But ya, "baby its cold outside"....hanging lights today....

We got snow in the upper elevations of El Dorado Hills and Cameron Park got a couple inches where my rental is at. The boys and I watched the snow come down as we painted the interior of my rental in Cameron Park. Last time we saw snow in El Dorado Hills was a couple years ago.

lol, I wish it would get that warm here. It's been single digits and barely in the teens the last couple days here. Today I saw the sun again and the white stuff started disappearing. Should start creeping back up to normal. Working outside in this single digit stuff is brutal when the wind blows.

-8.5* here this morning…. (Sun Valley, Id) but it's "dry cold".

Always get a chuckle out of statements like that… 'cause to me - it's still just flat ass cold (or hot)!

The little bit of snow on the roads is very dry - it's actually hard to get the ABS to kick in. Sun is out which helps. At least it's pretty to look at!

0* here right now.

Primary roads now have two-track secondary still covered with packed squeaky powder. Traction is decent even with tires just a hair shy of the tread wear bars.

Dog's aren't liking it......I won't take them out until it's 15*, not sure if they'd get frost bitten toes in 30-40 minutes at 0* so I'm not chancing it with the Dane as his feet tend to pack ice between the toes unlike the web-footed lab.

We bought Stella booties yesterday… wish I had a video going when we first put them on her… OMG was that a funny walk. Didn't take long and she was chasing the ball at full blast.

I wish you did too! That had to be hilarious!

How much resistance did she put up to having them put on?

Rev won't even let you trim his nails, he has a real issue when it comes to his feet. Amy and I can't come close to holding him down enough to get a safe trim on him. Our vet said she's convinced that dogs with very sensitive feet have higher sensory capabilities vs. the old trust issue adage.

I'd get my mutts boots if they resided in the SV winter climate......one more day here and they should be good.

It's -32 degrees celcius here right now, feels like minus -42 with windchill. We already have over 1 foot of snow, and we are only at 750 feet above sea level on the prairies (wide open no shelter)

Going to be a great winter!
