Hey guys, I have SpeedTech lower control arms and just bought a Hellwig tubular swaybar(part# 55705) for my 67 camaro. I noticed that the bar ends aren't parallel with the lower control arm hole. The hole in the control arm and the hole in the sway bar are about an 1 in off. When installed the end links will be at an angle about 15 degrees. I'm not sure if all after market bars are like this. I roughly compared the Hellwig bar against a factory one and they appear to be bent and are the same length. It looks like the SpeedTech control arms have the hole for the end link about an 1 in. back than a factory control arm. This is with no load on the suspension. I have another frame with a factory sway bar and factory control arms and the end links are straight up and down.
Thanks,

Is your car's suspension at full droop (on jack stands) or at ride height (sitting on the ground)? Should be fine, theres a bit of give with the link.

Thanks for replying back. The suspension is at full droop (on jack stands). The front suspension has ride tech coil overs to drop the front 2". When I jack the front suspension up the sway bar ends will hit part of the spindle when turned all the way to the left(passenger side). I would need to have the ends pointing up some to avoid hitting the spindle. Driver's side will do the same.

Can we pan the picture back abit.... The bars not upside down right?
You will need to adjust the end link length to get the right amout of travel and clearence.
What spindles and what steering arm do you have?

Vince, I have L & H spindles and steering arms. The bar bends are position as the factory one. If I put load on the suspension and want to keep the end of the bar horizontal with the ground, sway bar will hit the steering arm when passenger wheel is turned all the way to the left. Keep in mind I don't have the ride height set yet. Still putting the car together but I don't want to get it all put together and then find out that the bar won't work. I don't have my wheels and tires yet so tires might hit the subframe first. Thinking about running 235/45 on 17x8 on front. I tried to load some more pictures but they won't load. I get an error that the size is too big.
Thanks Again for the Help,
Tony

I think your problem might be cause you are at droop and your turning the spindle past normal travel.
For pictures I would recommend finding a hosting site such as shutter fly, photobucket or car domain. For problems like these a picture tells a thousand words.

Hey Vince, I've never had a photo hosting site. Does Hightail do the same thing? My photographer already had me sign up there.

Photobucket is free unless you need to host thousands of photos.
