New member from Austin, TX

Hey guys,

I'm a loooong time Camaro owner, having bought my very first car in 1975 when I was 17 years old, which is a 1969 Camaro I still own today. I've actually owned 4 different Camaros over the years, but hung on to the very first one (wife thinks she'll be burying me in it some day). I lived in Northern California all my life, but just moved to Austin, TX last year (July '12) because I was getting fed up with the direction the CA economy was going... and the fact that the best they can do is bring in recycled politicians to run the dang place. I had to leave the Camaro in a race shop out in Oakdale, CA though until I can afford to get it all finished and brought to Texas.

My Camaro has been through all sorts of iterations, from bulging fender flared street racer, to a 6-71 blown small block drag racer, and now on the path of soon becoming a road racer (I hope). I still have the blown small block that came out of it, and plan to put that in a chopped '32-'34 coupe someday. Anyway, I'm really glad I found this place and I hope to get plenty of ideas from all of you on what steps to take next on my baby...

Well Tubbed, I just tried posting pictures of me working on my engine, because its the only thing I have decent pictures of right now (all the pics of the Camaro are waaay too outdated), but I wasn't able to get the "Insert Image" feature to work, even though I have the photos loaded on Flickr.com... Not sure what the deal is, except maybe it's another one of those policies on this forum where you can't do certain things like post in classifieds (have a set of Koni shocks I wanted to sell there) until you have something like 20 posts, and have been hanging out here for 30 days? Is the same policy in place for adding photos? As one who has been an administrator on a number of groups and forums in various industries, I've never quite understood having such tight restrictions on new members of forums... Sure it may help minimize the spammers & scammers, but there are other ways to handle that I think... I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering how much those tight restrictions for newbies really benefits the growth and activity of this forum.

I am not sure about having to have so many posts before you can sell or not,I have seen some sites that do,hopefully one of the moderaters will step in and give a good explanation,my computer skills suck.I use photobucket to download pics and struggle at that so I am sure some of the experienced computer pros will jump in and give some help,real good people on here.

I actually live pretty close by, but the car was still in the shop back in April, so that couldn't have been me. The green DSE built T/A that SW was part owner of is in Austin still and does tend to make it out for those events, so perhaps that was the one you saw? I don't know of another blue/white one in town, but perhaps there is one. :)

After I got to thinking about it I think it was a blue 2nd gen Camaro. Sounds like you are pretty close to me. Im just down the street from Central Market on South Lamar.

Sure, they can skate around it and post and wait the 30 days but it is a deterrent and at least makes them work for it if that is their sole intention for joining. See it all the time. This is also a "community" -- not just a bunch of strangers on the internet. That also mean something here compared to many of the other "forums" out there.

Thanks Flash, and sorry for the looong delay... I just now finally added some photos in the members garage area. But please don't laugh at it too much, as it's a photo from waaay back in 1981, and the the look it has was actually from when I built it in 1977 at the tender young age of 19... Even I kind of laugh at it when I look at it these days... Almost like I was going for a re-creation of some of those old HotWheels cars I had when I was younger. But the car was still a blast to drive at that young age with over 500 hp out of a blown smallblock.
