Not sure if anybody has seen this or not. This is a wild crash, thankfully the driver and passenger essentially walked away from it. You can see the initial carnage to the vehicle, pretty crazy.

Notice that he knocked over several sections of the concrete highway barriers? Not a good place to stand for protection!

So much damage for such a short straight...

Agreed. It doesn't take much. A good reminder that those 'fun little AutoX courses' could do the same thing to our cars if we're not careful.

yep, he was carrying pretty good speed.

I wouldn't say he was a bad driver. This is being confident with your brakes and handeling but forgetting or not knowing that unknown factor...tire to the ground surface condition.

Target fixation!

not much you can do when they lock up. Some of these Rally drivers push their lines to the very edge and when something happens its full speed ahead. ugly comes knocking.

Love the guy at the end....."yes Domino's? Can I get 4 large (CRASH) oh snap....make that 3 large....."

Probably would have made the turn if he stopped locking up his brakes. Cant turn a car in a locked skid, you can see he turned the wheel in slow motion but continued to go straight. He should know threshold braking, unless he didn't see the barrier because of glare or some other factor and panicked.

Hard to say with different drivers but if you look at the other videos of this team they go in wayyyyy deep. Look how far he went into the straight there are 2 stone cones on out right... Farther than my pansie ass would. I noticed the white arrows on the barriers...navigator error? Maybe they should paint them a different color than street gray.

Im disgusted that they were just standing there watching like it was nothing instead of jumping in and saving the drivers.

I remember me in Jackass a couple years ago at Gingerman. At the end of the first straight there is a hard right turn and I locked up the brakes and slid thru the grass. Same day same car but with Stielow driving I see him lock up the brakes in the exact same spot. It is easy to see because smoke is coming off the tires. He was smart enough though to take his foot off the brakes and he proceeded to make the turn.

Well #1, that car had major balls, it was accelerating FAST and being a 911 light in the front push machine, he should have lifted off the brakes to give it a chance to grab, I got out of a similar situation as a co driver, I had to scream at my driver to lift off the brakes and when he did it bit and we made the turn just barely!!

Also, don't everybody jump in the water at once and get in the way of the rescue crew, man it's like it did not even happen, the one guy just looks down at his cell phone and finishes his text message while those guys could be possibly drowning. I'll make sure to never race there!!! lol...Jesus H. C.

An instructor finally explained oversteer (push) so that I could understand the "lift"...

The tires can do turning at 100% --- they can do braking at 100%.... but if you're asking the tires to turn and brake and you exceed 100% -- then you need to get off the brakes... or turn less (not usually a choice)... So in other words if the tires are using 90% of their grip to turn - then you can only add 10% braking. They need to SHARE that 100%.... Asking for more than that.. and something quits working.

Once I had that info in my head -- it became easier to share the tires grip.
