1969 Skylark Build

Hello all, I have been lurking around for a while try to soak up as much as i can. Now its time for the questions.

I am Starting to rebuild my first car a 1969 Skylark. I am planning on doing everything i wanted to do to this car and couldn't afford to.

I am going with a Built Buick 455 and a keisler T56.
HPI reinforcing kit and ABC's mini tub kit.

I am at a crossroads on suspension upgrades.
What should I use, Global west, DSE, speed tech, chassis works.
the choices are overwhelming. I'm trying to keep the price tag for the chassis, powertrain, fuel system and exhaust under 28k.

Any input or personal experience would be great thanks.

As far as what to do.........

What do you want it to do?

Street driving only? Around town or road trips?

A little or a lot of autocross?

Possible track use?

Realistically where will 80+% of the mileage/usage be?

You didn't mention one critical element of a build that a big block and T56 will exploit - Brakes!

Build the car according to your realistic usage, that will help establish a priority list and budget.

I havent forgotten about the brakes. It is high on my list. But i figured suspension first then brakes. im not driving the car, the body is off the frame.

It will mostly be a sunday drive date night car for me and my wife, with the ocasional road trip and power tour. but i would like to have a suspension that can handle the ocasional autocross.

That being said i live in the middle of the desert little traffic, few cops, nice paved roads.

My take for suspension would be a call to Phil and Jeremy at the Roaster Shop, order up one of the RS Fast Track chassis or their new REVO chassis!!!! You won't be disappointed. I know you are going to say its out of your budget but I world give them a call first, I bet you will see when you start to add up all the parts and labor to redo your 44 year old frame it's not that much more??? Then see what all your options are?

They do not show REVO for your car but I'm sure they could build one for you??

The roadster shop frames are pretty cool...I want to retain as much of the original car just upgrade the parts.

I have asked around and i think the best bang for the buck is the ride tech coil over kit. It is also the most complete kit for the gm A-body that i have seen.
