This will be my new daily driver AND more importantly my new open track day car when I don't feel like taking Penny (or she is getting worked on)

Thoughts?

Anyways.. my great 'Vette search is almost over.. Most of you talked me into going with a C5 and now it's down to two contenders..

The first is an '99 Pewter FRC with 69,000 miles on it.. no hud or many options but it does have a Borla exhaust and aftermarket intake (and 2000 wheels). Vince checked it out for me and it's a nice ride. 400 miles away in NorCal. Has maint paperwork, but mismatched tires (front and back different)..

Second car is a 2000 Silver Coupe with 52k miles.. has hud and a host of factory options and aftermarket stuff (you can see them in the add).. 70 miles away in San Diego.

I had really wanted an FRC, but the coupe seems to be the better car. I could care less about the Targa deal and I liked the FRC due to less weight and a stiffer chassis. But, I will be driving on the street more than the track and I am sure both will be fun to drive.

I am really stuck so what do I do? Ask my online bretheren.. deal or no deal? (and on which one)..

Oh, I can get either car for right around $20k.

I've always preferred the FRC. It just looks cocky. :D

I like the looks of the 99. My wife and I looked at a 01 Z06 last week but it has some history problems so I had to talk the wife out of wanting it. The car only had 14K miles on it but it had a Lemon buyback on it at one point. Which cars had the Z06 type top? I would be open to an older Vette if I could get that top.

I'd go for the second silver car. :captain:

I like the looks of the 2nd one better.

The hard-top style looks like the roof was an after-thought, and doesn't flow with the rest of the body IMHO.

For roughly the same price you have to go with the newer one with fewer miles. I like the FRC better, but I have a harder time paying more for a car that is a year older with more miles. But then again I have been working with car whores for the past 16 years.

I like the fixed roof.

And hence my dilema.. the practical side vs. the car-guy side.. lol

I know you dont care about the targa but I have t-tops on my trans am and i love them but if you are all about performance maybe the FRC is for you. Personally, i like the look of the rear window in the 2000 much better. A car that is a year newer and less miles... that would definitely be my pick.

The 2000 is the way to go. YOU have Penny and I guess you still have the mustang to go tracking. The 2000 seems to be alot nicer car.

If the FRC was a Z06 then I would say get it but both being non-Z06's, I'd get the 00 hatchback.
