Guys, I've narrowed my cylinder head choices down to two brands....Mast and All Pro. Not necessarily trying to pit one against the other, but merely a discussion on the two. Can y'all elaborate on your opinions on these two brands of cylinder heads. I'm leaning towards the All Pro's, but can save a little bit more with the Mast's. Price is not a factor though, so tell me what you think. I can say that All Pro has a better customer service. Richard is very knowledgeable and explains alot.

Marcus both of these units will compliment your engine package your putting together. I personally have seen the All Pro heads, and they are high quality pieces, but I'd bet the Mast units are nice also. If I were in your shoes, and had your unlimited budget, I'd let my engine builder make the call, as he will know exactly what components will work best together. I would not purchase a cylinder head, until my builder told me which one, if I were building a engine like yours. But that's me...

Oh yeah, my trip to Dallas got cancelled. Maybe next year!

Scott is right, follow your engine builder's advice.

I have seen and held both these heads. They both have a 3/4" deck height and flow like crazy so the CNC castings themselves are awesome and a toss up. On your (lack of) budget, pass on the stock Mast valve set up (if you buy Mast). Get 2.250 Titanium intake valves and 1.60 Inconnel exhaust (for the heat your blower will make). Titanium locks and keepers, PAC springs and call it done. Motor will make gobs of power!

Thanks guys, but the discussion and planning phase/stage with my builder is where I'm at. With each brand of cylinder head I will get titanium intake valves and inconel exhaust valves. I've spoken to Richard at WCCH and David at Mast about all of these options. Just wanted some insight on the two. So, from what I'm getting is...I can't go wrong with either head. As Ron stated, both have .750 deck thickness, the All Pro head flow 278 cc and the Mast heads flow 280cc (about the same). My builder and I have also discussed internals of the engine. Looking at Crower billet rods and crank, Ross coated pistons with the skirts coated as well. Already have my piston oil squiters for the RHS block.

Couldn't agree more, these guys do all the port work on Nelson racing engines LSX series engines.

This is gonna be a monster of an engine no matter what you decide. :)

the All Pro head flow 278 cc and the Mast heads flow 280cc (about the same).

Those numbers are intake runner sizes, not flow numbers.

No brother, I wasn't trying to be offensive. I was just eluding to the fact those were the heads I'm anticipating on getting. I apologize if I came off as having an attitude. Thanks!!

Correct and I stand corrected. Those are the intake runner sizes.

You won't go wrong with either. Go with what your builder says or with extraneous factors such as customer service or availability. The heads themselves are equal. Don't over think this or get caught up in minor flow number differences. Also don't get caught up in minor dyno number differences either should you start comparing what other's engines have done when you get to that point. You're going to have a beast, you're using quality parts, and you're using a quality builder. The rest is out of your hands but you've covered your bases very well.

This is what Ron in SoCal basically told me in so many words. Thanks guys for all of your input.

Marcus,

I looked into the AllPro head in the past, when my engine was built. It was rather expensive for the cost. Allpro had special head for supercharged engines, but the cost would have been $5600 for a complete set of heads. I have talked to Mast in the past, but at the time they had no interest in building a supercharged engine in 2008.

Your engine builder is looking for a certain number, and it will vary on the engine size. That is how I ended up with the Livernois cylinder heads. WCCH couldn't do it in the past, because they was hand porting the heads.

Since my car is in Detroit getting more work done on it. I have my engine over at Thomson Automotive. So, last week, here is what I got to drive to feel the power of a supercharged engine. Brian is rather cool because he test out all these parts and gives you the best recommendation on them. Actually, he was one of the designers for the RHS block. Oh, I met Mark Stielow at Thomson Automotive. As you can see it is easy to light up the tires. The bigger supercharger will make more power, but you will have problems hooking up.

Maaaan Jeff, that's gobs of power at the slightest touch of the pedal. What motor does Brian have in his Chevelle? Is it supercharged? Whatever it is, I know you cannot go wrong with Thomson Automotive. I've spoken to Brian a couple of times before. Sweet video by the way...thanks for posting.

LSX 454 with an LS9 supercharger. http://www.thomsonautomotive.com/chevelle.html Actually, he is talking about selling it now. That car is perfect.
