Did you use the Mast pan?
I did, only because I left the f-body pan on in the Vette. I have since acquired a winged Vette pan that I think I can use in the C2.

I saw the pics in your photobucket and was wondering if you would need to cut the crossmember on the frame to use that pan?
It would be very close. Not sure. Pics below.

Do you know if the Holley pan will work on a stroked engine?
That I do not know

kinda hard to see, but it looks like pan would clear, but it would be tight when you drop the motor in with a trans on it. Just motor, probably would go.

Any feedback on that new engine from the Colorado event?
Thanks

I was parked next to you in the red Camaro during the Motorstate Challenge Autocross day.

It's Paul, right?
yes, the motor is AWESOME. The 5400 ft elevation we were at wasn't the best for making power. The Holley efi did adjust, but with less air, it's still down on power...felt like 75-100 less. Now that I'm back in MI, and put the tune back in that was there before we left, its all back to normal awesomeness! It blows the tires off at 45mph in second gear with a throttle roll on. I keep trying to see if it will hook, but it never does :D

Hope you are enjoying that beautiful camaro the Dutchboys built you!

There are a few pics from USCA at Pike's Peak International Raceway last weekend. Had a blast making the trip from MI to CO with Tom and Deb Farrington. We both were representing Jet-Hot, what a great company, big thanks to Frank Cottone!

Didn't do too shabby either, ended up 4th in GTV behind Jake Rozelle, James Shipka, and Tom in third. Good company to be with!

That last pic is an awesome shot. That had to be fun.

I do notice that there is something red on the front of the Camaro. I think it may be a towhook?

I also notice that the Chevelle doesn't have one. Are they only required for Camaros?:underchair:

I can answer that ... that's the transponder tie wrapped to Efrain's tow hook!

Aaron ... those are some nice pics! Glad you and the gang made the trip and the g'velle is running well back home, this altitude does mess with an engine and sometimes people, lol.

See you next year fer sure!

Thanks, it was nice to meet you, glad you liked the "show". Tom and I had a great time out there. Beautiful country for sure!

Is your car done yet? :underchair:

We did Herb. Excellent. Too short trip:track time ratio though. 50 hours of trip time in 4 days

Good memory you got there! Or maybe you remember because you had Paul x 2 hanging out at the autocross that day, and the other Paul got a ride in the Vette.
Congrats on the new engine and it should really transform the car and take it to another level on the fun meter.
Yes, the Camaro is very nice, to the point that it's somewhat challenging for me to beat on it at the track. Should have left it in primer and I would have had a true track car.
I've been looking at various LS3 motors, which was why I asked about your Mast motor because I have a 67 Chevelle that needs an LS engine.

Take Care!

Well, to be honest, when I started my project I wanted to do the whole body and paint thing then do the mechanicals. Glad I didn't. I've had so much fun with it, not freaking out about a scratch or chip in the paint. I still cringe a bit everytime I peel a sticker off and some of the 50 year old lacquer comes off with it though.

So far very happy with the Mast motor. If you are interested, I know of a great dealer that would be glad to help you out! PM me if interested.

As usual, one of the best events we go to. Bob Bertleson puts on a fantastic event that gets better each year. Grateful to be able to take both the Chevelle and the wife's Corvette this year. Both performed well with no issues. We call that a win.

The Mast motor is truly amazing. I went 14 mph faster than last year..consistently hitting 135 on the front straight. It feels like I'm getting rear-ended :)

A few videos of the Chevelle on course. Feel free to leave constructive criticism. I appreciate all the tips I can get.

lol at Dan!

Only advice I can give you Aaron is to rig up a mount inside the car, preferably on the harness bar between the seats...to put your GoPro. I'd much rather see what's going on inside the car and through the windshield than listen to wind noise outside the car.

Otherwise, good job man! No matter what Dan says...

I didn't have my go pro with me. I wasn't worried about taking video, more worried about getting the car to do what I needed it to do. Someone asked to put a camera on the car, and they put it on the rear looking back. Not sure who it was.

Had a little fun this weekend with a cool local bunch called the Furrin Group, as in "foreign" cars lol. I've raced with them in the past and had a blast. They can't believe the big American cars can get thru the cones, especially tight courses set up for Miatas and Subarus. Made a few believers out of them! Putting a video up now, I'll post a link when its done. Finished 11th out of 69 cars in all classes by raw time. Lot's of cars on R compounds and slicks.

These were just a few pics. They posted 90 of my car and 60 some of the Vette. If you are on Facebook they are here:

It was hard to get at first walking it. They have the same layout every year I guess, so it was only hard for us that hadn't been before.

I got a total of 4 runs. Never got lost, but took it easy the first run. Not sure if you could tell, but I ran first gear the whole way. Nice with a 7000 rpm limit, which it hits a few times.

Jill did OK, she's learning it all. Just needs to be a bit more aggressive I think. She definitely gets the line and such, just needs to learn what the car is capable of. At LS Fest, I went about 2.5 secs faster in the Vette than she did, so she's not that far off. I'm probably 2+ slower than a good driver in it as well.

Wow, time flies...now time to blow the dust of this thread.

Been enjoying the car, that's why I built it after all. Those in the jackstand army, you need to go awol. It is so much fun actually getting to use them!

I did just that last weekend and the Midwest Musclecar Challenge. I've commented time after time on how great of an event this is and I think a few first timers on here would most likely agree.
We are about 7 hours (366 miles) from Putnam Park and this year, I decided to drive the Chevelle instead of trailer. We only have a single place car trailer that hauled the wife's Vette. I was a little anxious about it, but worst case we could swap cars if something happened..turned out it wasn't necessary.

Drove there in on and off rain and managed to get just over 20mpg. Not bad as is makes around 620 at the crank right? One Friday we ran the roadcourse and due to the timing system not working, we didn't get any transponder times. I went our every session. Not sure time wise, but I was hauling. 139mph for two sessions, 137 and 136 the others. Considering my brakes are adequate at best, I was breaking early so I'm sure there was more. I can't say enought about the power that the Mast 416 makes. Feels like somebody is bump drafting behind you :)

So after what I consider a very successful road course day, we headed to Raymond's Performance in Indy (Plainfield). What an awesome facility Bruce has now! They had a nice spread for us an put on a car show with a lot of the locals showing up. Then the skies opened up on our way back.

After rain most of the night, it was on to Terre Haute in the am for autox. The first few hours the course had water on it, then it dried up and was very nice.

Special thanks to everyone for the ride alongs and the wheel time! I like that I'm getting asked to drive others cars for and opinion on this or that...not sure my advice is even worth the amount I charge (free!). But, thanks to Jeff Cleary (sweet Thug Nova), BuddyP, Kerry K, and Gordie. Got one shot of me in Jeff's Nova, this car is sweet! Photo by Dave Dean of Burnt Bridge Images!

All in all, superb weekend with awesome friends old and new. 917 miles on the car including over 50 at speed on the roadcourse. Not one hiccup. A win. :flag2:

Aaron,
Looks like you are having fun. Yes, I still remember my first ride in the G-Velle. What an awesome experience for me. Wish mine was off the stands, but still kicking my tail.

Keep having fun, and maybe I can catch another ride one day. The Vette looks really good out there too.

Had a blast hanging out with you and others last weekend Aaron, was honored that you wanted to go out and ride with me on the road course on Friday. You helped me figure out how to get through at least two turns faster than I was prior. Sorry about the "Oh crap" moments... ;)

I'll second that the Midwest MuscleCar Challenge is a great event, I'm ready to sign up for next year right now. Putnam Park is an absolute jewel of a facility, if I lived anywhere close to there, I'd have a membership for sure.

Thanks for the ride around the autocross in the G-Velle, that thing scoots for sure. Given your testimony above, it is exactly what Pro-Touring is all about. Well done...

Can't wait til we do this again.

I still remember giving you the ride! Nashville 2014. On our way to Daytona.
If the time ever presents itself, you're welcome for another ride. It has a little different attitude than it did last time ;)
Thanks Bill.

I'm not a track expert by any means, but I've done a few laps there. Glad I could help out a little..too bad timing wasn't working. I'm bummed you didn't get to go for a ride in mine on the big track. Of course, I never went out alone...the seat was always taken.
And for the record: I wasn't scurred!

I get a kick out of the "what is pro-touring" debates...this is the answer.

So, to do it again...Motorstate Challenge. Can't say enough good things about it. Gingerman is VERY similar to Putnam. Do not come with the RV and no car. You will be bummed. Seriously bummed.
Next, there's Northeast Musclecar Challenge (formerly known as Ohio Musclecar Challenge) August 18-20 at Pittsburgh (Beaver Run). Great course, well run, lots of seat time! Just sayin.

We'll see... I want too, but I want to make improvements to the car as well plus fix a few things around the house that have been pushed to the back burner over the years.

Kind of like racing, it's all about balance. I will say this, the Missus is much more inclined to come along to facilities like Putnam. :D Not sure she cared that much for dry camping in the dusty\muddy parking lot at the Super 8 though.

John from Forgeline got some great pics of me on what was, my best run up til this point, a cone at the finish. That may have been my only cone for the day too, well I got it with style! Oh, and I totally was in control the whole time :drive:

Hey guys, its been a year since I've updated this thread. Had a lot of things going on, especially since December of '16. I sold my half of my business of 17 years to my partner...so technically, I'm retired now!! Yes :)

Bigger than that, is that in April, I was diagnosed with leukemia, CLL/SLL more specifically since there are so many different types. Rather that retype it all, I'm pasting a post from my FB page that I know some of you have seen.

Also, I'm in process (mostly on hold now..) of making huge changes to the G-Velle. Epic is probably more accurate! I promise to get some pics posted soon of the progress. But right now, getting my health back is number one priority!

Copied from FB:
Funny how things have a way of being put in perspective: Five months ago, I was dealing with what at the time, was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with, the sale of our business of 17 years. One month ago, today, I realized that was nothing.
On April 3rd, I was diagnosed with leukemia. More specifically, CLL/SLL which is Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. On the wide scale of possible types of leukemia, if there’s such a thing as the good side, that’s what I have. Although it’s typically found in people 65 and older (I’m 45 now) the Dr’s were a bit surprised to see it, but it’s not unheard of.
Before I get to the details, the plan and the future, I wanted to let you all know what was going on and why you may not see us at many (or any) events this year. I’ve told a few close friends (that are closer to family really) and of course my family. I feel like it’s best to hear it from me than from another friend as stories tend to change along the way! Ha-ha. What I’m NOT asking for is for anyone to feel sorry for me, or my family. I’m past all that! I got this. What we need is your experiences, encouragement, thoughts and prayers! I will accept anything positive to move forward to beat this. As hard as it is to stay positive, I must say from the few friends and family that already know, you have been AMAZING. Especially Jill, she has been my everything so far, can't imagine doing this without her... and I am humbled daily by the incredible people I call friends. The texts, messages, offers to help, and the phone calls just to chat…I hope you all know I would do the same for you!
OK, so how did I get here: So, after we got back from our cruise to the Caribbean area in February, a week later, I had a swollen tongue and 5 or 6 large canker sores on it. My lymph glands were also pretty swollen in my neck, but nothing I haven’t had before. I had others on the inside of my cheeks and gums. A trip to the Urgent Care, got a script for antibiotics and steroids…surprise. Well 10 days later, a bit better, but sores came back. Went back to Urgent Care, guess what? Yep, stronger antibiotics…10 days later same. Since I hadn’t been to a real doctor in four years, we’d dropped off our primary Dr’s list… best they could do was 6 weeks to get in as a new patient! Ughh. Luckily a friend of Jill’s got us in to her doctor. Blood work was done immediately and there we go, leukemia was suspected. That Dr. sent us to a Hematologist/Oncologist. More blood work, more tests and then the suspicion was confirmed. Once confirmed, it was on to more test to see how far along I was. CLL can take years and years to develop into something that’s even treatable. They don’t treat it typically until later stages, it’s a watch and wait up until then.
The first big test was a PET nuclear test where radioactive sugars are injected into the blood to show highlights on the scan. Any tumorous type anomalies will use the sugar first and show “hot spots”. Well turns out the most of the lymph glands in my entire body were “warm spots”, no particular place worse than the other, but it was everywhere somewhat. Two days after the PET scan, I was admitted to the hospital because the sores in my mouth and swollen tongue were keeping me from eating and swallowing anything, even water hurt. Food and pills would get stuck halfway down my throat, not cool. After four days in the hospital, getting bag after bag of fluid, getting poked and prodded multiple times per day/night, I finally started feeling better and was able to eat. Turned out I had the “Corona” virus (simple cold virus), lol doesn’t sound bad, especially with a lime 😊…and the mouth sores were just something that my non-existent immune system couldn’t fight off. While I was in the hospital, I had a few lymph nodes removed from my neck for testing. Both pathology and FISH test I believe. The important part of the FISH test is to find out if a gene, labeled 17P is not there (or damaged). If it’s not there, well treatment is easy, a very expensive pill every day for the rest of your life, but one day the pill may stop working…that day is unpredictable. My 17P is present, so I am a candidate for chemo, yay! Not like chemo is an awesome option, but at least I have one. The chemo they’d most likely use is FCR and has been used for a long time with good results.
After I got over having a mild fever in the hospital, they let me go home feeling way better than when I went in. Two weeks later found me back at the hospital getting a bone marrow biopsy, yeah yuck. The results of that just came yesterday and showed that my marrow is 80-90% saturated with the leukemia cells…not good, but does show that I’m a candidate for treatment sooner than later, like real soon.
Which brings me to today. Our next move is to get a second opinion, not of the diagnosis as much as the treatment plan. From what my Dr. says, I pretty much have textbook test results and symptoms, so hoping it’s something simple and not cancer is a real long shot. After the second opinion, due to the stage (3 or 4) I’m in, most likely we’ll get started with treatment very soon. The standard is 6 months; 3 days in a row each month with checkup visits in between to monitor all of the numbers of course. Not looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to being done with it! The future looks great, just got to get thru the next 8-10 months.
Again, I’m trying to keep a very positive attitude about this, I’d appreciate you all do the same! My family deserves it, my friends deserve it, heck I deserve it! I have so much to do still, this is just a little bump in the road. I will miss seeing you all at the car events and hanging out in the parking lots. Of course, if I’m able, I’ll come just to come!
Please, fire away if you have questions. Thank you all in advance for the well wishes and prayers!

Hope everyone is well, and, hopefully there are less and less jack stands being used too! Due to me most likely starting treatment very soon, I won't be able to drive much this year, and I'm having a harder time with that than thinking about stupid chemo treatments! I miss hanging out with friends and driving old cars fast...

Obviously not the post I was expecting after following along on your Instagram page with the changes to G-Velle and I can only imagine what a tough time this is for you and your family. I will definitely be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as I can only imagine the challenges that lie ahead for you. As with anything a positive attitude and loads of moral support certainly help the final outcome and I am sure those of us in the PT world will do everything we can to make sure your'e are supported in every way imaginable.

Aaron, brother...I'm speechless. I know you didn't ask for sorrow or pity, but it's human nature. Being a firefighter/paramedic and working in the ER of a hospital part time, it's only befitting that I feel sorrow as a person in the healthcare field. I will continue to pray for you and your family. I'm 44 and we're the same age. So, yes, things like this aren't supposed to happen, but when they do we feel empathy/sympathy for one another. I've never met you, but feel like I know you as well as several others on this board. I wouldn't know any of y'all if I walked past you in Wal-Mart. But, we here, at Lat-G are a close knit, unofficial family. Take care brother and I know you're a fighter...so stay strong. GOD bless.

Thanks Marcus! I appreciate your sympathy. It does hit close to home when it's someone you know and they are about your age. I'm sure you see and hear about stuff all the time in your field. Speaking of, thank you for what you do! When I was in the hospital for 4 days, I constantly thanked the nurses for doing what they do...there's no way I could do that! I'll work on your car, fix something around the house or build you something from a block of material, but no way am I working on another human!

I totally agree about the family thing. I've met more nice people in this hobby/industry/circle than any other place before. Some of what I call my best friends, I've only known 3-4 yrs in total, and only see them 2-4 times a year. The amount of support has been mind blowing to say the least. Humbling for sure!

Still works today as well, a year later. :)

You know what's crazy? Been so long since I updated here, I flipped thru the whole post to see where I was at. I ran across that and had EXACTLY the same thought!
I will be more than happy, if I can, give any relevant pointers. Like you mentioned, the track surface is new and may change a few things. Should be 2-3 secs faster I'd say....so, no excuses! Good luck, so bummed I can't be there this year. Sticky side down! Oh, and I soooo got this!

Aaron, This popped up on my email notification, had to backtrack a couple of posts to get to the first update, and WOW, didn't expect to read that.

I'll never forget the ride you gave me in Nashville. Really brought the whole thing together for me of building my car. What was really great, you didn't know me at all, and then allowed me the ride. This is what I love about this community.

Then to be able to walk through things like this with someone, knowing that this person needs a prayer today, and we are here to do just that. I like the fact that you end your posts with "I sooooo got this", it just shows the tenacity that I had seen when building your cars. Having your family support, and then close friends at your side means a lot. I'll be saying a prayer today for you, and let me know if there is any other time, you might need a pick me up.

So now, since you have retired, I guess we will see more posts about the cars, as I know for me, that is a true stress and mind relief for me.

Have a great day today.

Thanks for the nice reply Bill! Yeah that was 2014 in Nashville, we were headed to USCA Daytona...man what a trip! It was my pleasure to give you a ride. 9/10 times, the passenger seat has someone in it :) Matter of fact, I'm usually faster with someone there.

Although it's been tough to be diagnosed and deal with it, I think it's one of those things that when I'm thru with it I'll be a better person/man/husband/dad/friend etc. It really does change you're outlook on things and makes you appreciate the things that we have in our life.

We'll see how long the retired life lasts. Just before being diagnosed, I was on a mission to buy a building and equipment and get back started with a shop. Honestly, I miss it. Things have just been delayed a bit for now as I need to focus on getting better first.

Thanks again it was good to hear from you again. And thank you for the prayers, I'll take them all!

Ok on to some updates on the car instead of me! Thank you all for the well wishes though, things are moving along and I've started treatment. So far, so good everything has been going well.

So, I've been on a quest for the last few years (well since I built the car initially) to get bigger tires under it. 315's all around. After discussing options with Mr. Sutton, we came up with a plan to do just that. I had a few sacred cows those being: use my Forgeline wheels (widened of course), keep the back seat, not modify the exterior body. Other than massaging some fender lips, we're good on all counts so far!

Step One, disassemble:
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20170125_140209_zpsqvzvamrc.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20170125_140209_zpsqvzvamrc.jpg.html)

Step Two, mock up big tars!
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20170207_154859_zpsmozqmbfo.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20170207_154859_zpsmozqmbfo.jpg.html)

Some of these pictures are from some time ago as I've been working on and off the project for a while. So most likely, some may be out of chronological order sorry.

RSRT supplied the front clip (TA2 if I remember correctly, Ron please confirm) with all the trimmings as well as the data for me to build the rear suspension from a design that I did from scratch. As a lot of you know, I don't have the engineering company that I was partners in anymore, well since January 1st of 2017... So thankfully I had the design pretty much wrapped up in detail before then, the only real issue is I don't have access to the CNC machines to make the cool parts now! I'll figure out something as I only need a few items now.

I'm trying Google images instead of photobucket as I've not been happy with it really. So the images come in big! And videos I can only get to work as a link, not embedded. Anyway, here is some detail on the front RSRT clip:
Bare clip
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20161013_112927_zpsfwnyumfw.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20161013_112927_zpsfwnyumfw.jpg.html)

Graphed into stock frame

to be continued...

So on to the rear setup. Like I mentioned, I had designed this setup with data points from Ron. One sacred cow (keep the back seat), kept me from getting a more ideal setup, but I was willing to make that sacrafice.

What I came up with was a 3-link to replace the factory tri-angulated 4-link with the addition of a Watt's link. It almost packages completely under the stock floor/trunk pan...I say almost because the upper 3rd link bracket needs a clearance area in the trunk "shelf" above the axle.

I jigged up the frame to a frame cart, setting it at ride height and tacking it down. After everything was squared up and true, I cut out the kick-up area over the axle. I drew up and had new frame rails laser cut out. They also utilize internal gusseting with tab-in-slot construction. They are really stout.
Here's the rear rail section during fab.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20160917_155610_zpsbmlcio0h.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20160917_155610_zpsbmlcio0h.jpg.html)

I originally had planned on a factory style tri-angulated 4-link with a Watts. But upon finding the CAD model going into bind with the addition of the Watts, and then confirming it with a few guys that actually had a Watts with a 4-link, I decided to go to the 3. Glad I did in hindsight, look for the link to the video below!

Ok here is the 3-link during fab/mock up (I know, the welds suck on the crossmber side plates...it was the very first thing I ever tig welded, I got better, honest!):
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20170105_194930_zpss0iqylyq.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20170105_194930_zpss0iqylyq.jpg.html)

Once the axle was hung, I moved on to the Watts link, or Oberlink as it's been called. I wanted a chassis mounted bellcrank that packaged well, so this is what I came up with. It has rc adjustment from 7.5-12.5".
Pcs to build it (thanks UMI!):

So in order to build a rear setup that is basically a one-off, it requires a bunch of custom parts. There was a ton including all of the laser cut parts (almost 40 pcs there alone).
Here are some of the laser cut and machined pcs.
Rear lower shock mounts:
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20161223_203957_zpsdfcb8fba.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20161223_203957_zpsdfcb8fba.jpg.html)

Axle tube mounts for the Watts, also the rear sway bar attaches directly to this bracket. A top clam shell clamp was also made.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20161223_203554_zps2tkextpa.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20161223_203554_zps2tkextpa.jpg.html)

Some of the link eyes in process. I made both right and left hand versions so they are on-car adjustable.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20161206_072754_zpsg3k2k4cr.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20161206_072754_zpsg3k2k4cr.jpg.html)
The milling steps to make them, not including turning and threading.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20161112_115342_zps8rv8dij0.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20161112_115342_zps8rv8dij0.jpg.html)

Here are the 3 links and the lower shock mounts all finished up and powder coated.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20170102_210124_zpssgrprjij.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20170102_210124_zpssgrprjij.jpg.html)

I went with a transmission mount that was made from tab-and-slot construction as well.
http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/65_LS1_T56/RSRT3link/20170407_120939_zpszkhpffvn.jpg (http://s1207.photobucket.com/user/65_LS1_T56/media/RSRT3link/20170407_120939_zpszkhpffvn.jpg.html)

Of course, I made the bell crank for the Watts...and a few spares :)

What internet browser do you use? I know for Firefox and Chrome you can install an add-on that automatically creates a workaround and re-enables hotlinking of Photobucket pics, so build threads appear completely restored and viewable. Search Google for "photobucket fix for ____" with _____ being whatever browser you use.

I'm still alive! Not at 100% operating level, but I'm doing better day by day. Been a rough 2018 for me with my health. I've been in the hospital 4 times since early January. One visit was 5 weeks...
I'm back home now for almost 3 weeks and feeling much better. I'm getting my strength back and dealing with some of the side effects. The worst was picking up a fungal infection in my lungs while my immune system was totally down. That'll take months to get rid of and of course, months of meds.

Enough about that! I guess I never posted a link to a walk around video of the mostly completed new chassis. It's here: https://youtu.be/rZuNLUIQsOQ

I did get to one event in last year to see how the new setup worked. Took the car down to Charlotte, NC for Good Guys and also hit up the DSE open house. So about the chassis. Whoa. Mega change in the way it drives! I went from having no rear grip to now having too much. Had to make some big adjustments from the "middle" position that I had it in. By the end of 7 runs, and getting faster each run, it was getting much easier to drive.

There's a few things I want to change, but overall I'm very satisfied with it. Here's a few pics of it together and on the ground.

To say I am blown away is an understatement. The chassis looks incredible and the video was really cool to watch. I plan to watch it again when I get to the office.

As for the beer hold off a little longer as it may come out of you fairly quickly. Make sure you have a couple months with a solid stomach as you don’t want to end up dehydrating yourself.

ps I am glad your still alive which i already new as I follow you on facebook.

Thanks, not gonna be doing too much work just yet, but hope to get to an autox soon to get back in the groove.

I don't want to say I told you so........but I said to stay away from that Chuppa Wuppa from Taco Bell. It will be OK you said......I was right again!!

I've got no idea what you're talking about :EmoteClueless:

Welcome back Aaron, here's to feeling better, I don't drink beer but hope you can pour one soon

Thank you! I'll have one for you then :)

Looks great Aaron! Keep it up!

Thanks Todd

To say I am blown away is an understatement. The chassis looks incredible and the video was really cool to watch. I plan to watch it again when I get to the office.

As for the beer hold off a little longer as it may come out of you fairly quickly. Make sure you have a couple months with a solid stomach as you don’t want to end up dehydrating yourself.

ps I am glad your still alive which i already new as I follow you on facebook.

Thanks Marty. I did end up having one and had no issues. I've been doing pretty good with the stomach problems. Only a few hours in the morning I get stomach cramps after I take most of my daily meds. It was awesome too.

Glad you see you back! Your car has been a great inspiration to my chevy II build. Love the walk around video cool idea, I saw you're running a returnless fuel setup, what pump and regulator are you running?

Well thanks Kevin, I'm honored to be an inspiration! I run a Ricks Tanks Restomod stamped tank with a ZL1 pump that is internally regulated. I've had no issues with not having a return style system. https://rickstanks.com/product/restomod/

I am currently running the tanks inc setup but after walbro pump issues I have been looking into the restomod tank as well. Are you running a fuel pump controller?

No controller, its internally regulated and returns back in the pump bucket to keep it full. I've not run on a road course yet, only autox so far no issues.

Aaron just found this thread and I must say nicely done Son and I have this thing, we have a 6.0 and some other parts for it but son is lacking on his funding so right now its maybe I gotta look into the rear frame mods to put some meats in it. If I ever get my bird running and into paint I'll have time for this, maybe my retirement car

That was my poor attempt at a joke, 4 times in the hospital, one for 5 weeks after a Taco Bell excursion. Had to make up a fictitious product name for fear of getting sued. LOL

Time for an update.
First, I've been feeling much better, I'd say I'm a solid 90% and driving the car again only makes me feel better. Good medicine.

Secondly, I've been to a few events this year now. I'm still amazed at the difference with the new chassis, brakes and the wider tires. I literally threw away all my notes from before because the car drives so differently (better different..).
I've been to 2 SCCA events and a test and tune day this past weekend. I had the chance to adjust the Watt's link thru it's full range to feel the difference. I ended up close to my designed nominal position. My rear bar is set on the mid position as well. The car feels very balanced to me on the higher speed courses I've been on (~70-76mph). I think I'm down to small adjustments now. I'm anxious to get it on a big track to see what happens. That'll be soon enough at Gingerman for the Motorstate Challenge this month.
The grip that it has is unreal; again, comparing it to what I had before. I'm gaining trust in its capabilities for sure, but have a way to go since it's such a different driving style than I'm used to.

Here's a few videos. The first is the rear 3-link suspension. I was hoping to see more of the Watt's link, but you can only see the top of the main bracket. I was happy to not see it moving or flexing at all though.

This one is from the Yooper Cup in the Upper Pennisula of MI two weeks ago. Crazy how much sidewall flex you get, and this was 37psi in the Rival S.

Man, that is an AWESOME autocross site at Oscoda... How far from home for you is it?

Can't wait to drive the G-Velle on the concrete at Grissom in August. It looks like you are getting it very dialed in...

Oscoda is 2.5 hours away, not too bad. They all compare it to the concrete at nationals, except there are a few newer sections at Oscoda in the mix.

Thanks for coming out today Ric, glad you had fun and we got you a ride.

Actually it was at CAM East in Grissom that I co-drove the G-velle. Here is a video of my best and Aaron's best runs of the weekend.

While I'm here, been having some fun in the G-Velle as seen in Lance's video above lol. Also did Northeast Musclecar Challenge and Holley LS Fest since then. The car has been working great. I'm still figuring out how to drive it though. Can't believe how far along it's come in 5 years.
