The Contest:
Rules are simple, convince the Baileigh team to
pick you by posting your entry in this thread.
Some good Examples:
Shop tours, pictures, interviews
Be loud, be funny, be extreme, be creative, but keep it clean!
Go "over the top" with your entry!
Why do you need these machines?
What are you building?
Show us your current project.
Tell us why you hate your current tools.
How will you make us pick you with your entry?
Got a good video that promotes Baileigh?
What do you want to build?
Why does Baileigh dominate?
Why should we pick you?!
Remember, we are looking for a true fabricator who will show off this
equipment right when they get it and not let it sit and collect dust.
Prove this is you!
Make sure your entry is your own stuff!
Don't post a bunch of stuff from the internet.
Please remember that this is a contest....
So have some fun and BE CREATIVE with your entry! STAND OUT FROM THE REST!
(A tip: We like pictures, videos and cool stuff like that, so the simple “I’m in!!” post has a hard time getting seen and will unlikely be considered).
Pictures of past builds, past fabrication projects and fabrication action shots of your work always score well with the judges.
Should you win, we are going to need photos; testimonials, a couple You Tube videos, and build threads
started showing just how incredible your new Baileigh equipment really is.
This would be used both here on Lateral G and also on the
Baileigh Industrial websites here, the UK, Germany and Australia.
International, baby! In a way you will become the next “celebrity spokesperson” for Baileigh.
The Rules:
The contests runs from 6-1-13 to 7-1-2013
Entries close at 12:00pm CST (high noon!) on 7-1-2013.
Winners will be notified on this thread and will have one week to respond and accept their prize.
Should the chosen winner not claim their prize, another winner
will be chosen by the judges, and so on until the prize is claimed.
Get your entries in and be creative! If anyone has any questions regarding this contest please let us
know by asking them in this thread, sending a pm, or contacting us direct through our website.

Remember Baileigh Industrial is the leader in Metal Fabrication equipment.
From full blown production to the guy in the garage.
We have it all in one place.

Well I think I covered shop pics, current projects, past projects and possibly over the top (I posted as many pictures as I could). I pretty much live in my shop and would have a hella lot of fun with a bead roller. Maybe a certain 36 inch power one if ya know what I mean. :D I got some wheel tubs I made from scratch laying around for that 69 Cuda FB that could use a little quality time with one. Oh and I'm kinda a young gun, 25 at the moment and have been working on rods since I was about 10. Thanks Baileigh Inc for putting these contest on.

Anyway, I do all my own work from my home 20x20 shop. What I would use the prize for is either a vertical band saw or a bead roller?? The saw would most likely get more use so that's where I would probably go with first.
Some of my story, I had a shop a few years ago with a friend but as the economy took a turn for the bad we had decided to close up. So I had to go from 6000 sq ft to a 20x20 garage again. It all worked out in the end as I work for a great company now and still get to work on cool stuff all the time (well not as often as I'd like) but its all good!!
My long term goal is to get a small shop opened again but this time not as big and just myself and maybe one other employee to help out (insert younger kid that wants to learn how to build hot rods). So that is it, i want to get most of my equipment now at my home shop then get it all to a small place to turn out some cool hot rods!
Thanks for doing this contest guys there are lots of guys on here that deserve it so who ever you pick to win will be great!!! :grouphug:
Pictures will follow soon. :knokwood:
subscribed and will be putting in my entry.

Hard working home builder here. I am a mechanical engineer, hobbyist machinist and fabricator, and amateur race car driver. I have put together a pretty serious 1963½ Ford Falcon. I get a lot of attention at shows and races because it is something most people have never seen souped up. I built virtually all of my own parts stealing ideas mercilessly from top competitors and the aftermarket. I look at some trick parts and think “I could build that,” and I do. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries, but I don’t give up and I make it happen. By building my own stuff, I get to decide which compromises to make and I have to live with the results. If I have an issue it’s my own darn fault.
To take my car to the next level I really need add a full cage. Your RDB-050 tubing bender would be perfect for me. It is relatively compact, efficient, has a massive capacity, and is well made. I know I could just pay someone to put a cage in my car, but for the same investment in equipment, I can build my own cage and I can spend the time and effort to get it tucked in and up as far as possible.
Everyone loves a Cinderella story. I have been working on my car for almost 4 years and been racing it for the last year and a half. I just got my first autocross win at the GoodGuys show in Pleasanton. It took a lot of hard work on both car and driver to get there. I was also just featured in the June issue of the San Francisco Region SCCA publication “The Wheel” with a quarter page picture and a paragraph write-up. I will also be in an upcoming issue of the GoodGuys Gazette for my autocross win. How great would that Falcon look with a Baileigh sticker across the windscreen?
I’m on a limited budget and we just bought our first house, so every purchase and horse trade are well thought out and can take months of savings. A tubing bender has been on my short list of tools to own for a long time. You guys make some of the finest equipment available. One of things I have learned over the years is to only by the best quality tools. Quality may cost more upfront, but they save money in the long run because you have to buy the tool twice and a quality tool will offer a lifetime of service if properly maintained. Check out the restoration I did recently to my late ‘40s Di-Acro No. 4 Brake. I just love quality craftsmanship. You know your bender will be going to a good home and will see plenty of use weather it is building a roll cage for my car, a chassis for my next project, rock sliders and suspension part, or even a hand rail.
Thank you for this awesome contest and an opportunity to own and outstanding tool.
-Craig Johnson
I saved this sweet little brake form the scrap pile at work:

Poor old gal was headed off to the scrap heap and I said wait a second. At least 3 coats of paint, missing handles, no stand, and was frozen. I soaked it with WD-40 and it started to move, so I knew it could be saved.

I stripped it down, cleaned, greased, machined several missing parts, made handles, welded up cracked off corners from the castings.

Yeah I figured I'd hoard some of the cars I've always wanted now while they're still affordable than try to buy them down the road when they're harder to find and people will want a fortune. The hard part is sticking to the plan of letting one sit while I finish the main project. I want to work on them all lol.

I probably dont have a very good chance but figured i'd give it a shot anyways...I would like to submit some past projects i have worked on/built. The first is a 1962 Mercedes Benz my dad bought over 25 years ago. When i was 15 i started working on restoring it. Overall, the car was in good shape and only needed a paint job and some other minor repairs to freshen it up! Great starter project, but then i bought a '67 C-10 that I did all the work on and drove through high school and college. Most recently is my '69 Z/28. The Benz and C-10 have been sold and the Camaro is my only project at the time. I put on those rose colored glasses when i bought it and bit off more than i could chew! But im not one to give up so even if it takes me 10 years, i will see this project to completion!
Already have the Art Morrison Max-G chassis on a frame jig. All the new sheet metal is purchased, now i just need to set the car on the frame and fabricate the floor pans, firewall, wheel tubs, etc. I hope to stick an LS-7 and 6spd tranny in there. Still undecided on paint, but thinking i will go back to the original garnet red with black stripes and a black interior!
If i win i would use the money to purchase a bead roller to help with floor, wheel tub, firewall fabrication!

I figure I might as well give this a shot too. My entry is a bit different because it isn't necessarily mine alone. I live in an apartment with no garage and work out of my fiance's dad's 3 car garage; which is home to the following....a 69 & 70 Trans Am, my 72 Chevelle on the weekends, an 07 Mazdaspeed 3, an 06 F-150, and a couple less exciting daily drivers, a part time hobbyist furniture shop, and small service garage and shop to work on and all the vehicles.
The three of us (Fiance's dad + his son + me) don't have a whole lot of spending money like many of the gifted garage fabricators on here but we do what we can to add those little touches to all of our vehicles to make them our own. The three of us have collaboratively prepped the three classics for paint with angle grinders and wire brush wheels, swapped rear ends, upgraded suspension, small body and paint modifications and lots of other small things. In addition to working on cars we also are hobbyist woodworkers so the garage sees a lot of action.
After spending a couple years on this site and being around so many skilled and knowledgeable car gurus one cannot help to be constantly tinkering and updating their ride.
I'm a dreamer so I always have plans on what I want to build, I have sketchbooks and yellow legal pads full of drawings. The problem is I don't really have any tools but I try to barrow whatever I can to get the job done. With some Baileigh bucks I could really get something to help make some of the drawings come to fruition.
Time for the pics! All of the things you are about to see are the product of one packed three car garage which could be made infinitely more useful with the help of Baileigh and their generosity.
First the muscle!

In the 72 Chevelle I have stripped it down to metal, upgraded the suspension with all new upper and lower control arms, upgraded to coil-overs, swapped the front drums for discs, replaced the rear end after blowing up the old one, reupholstered the original seats only to be replaced with newer racing style buckets, Ringbrothers hood pins, and other small things here and there.

Just got another project. I wanted to pick it up before I did my video but the guy was out of town
67 GMC 1/2 ton

I'll be cutting it down into a short bed. The frame is easy, that's been done a ton, but I've only seen a couple people shorten these beds. When I did this 72 in 2004 I'd never heard of anyone else doing it. I'm going to do this 67 a little different though and I want to make a tube frame and maybe a 4 link rear

Well, my home PC is still down and all I got access to is my iPhone (which is what I usually surf and post from anyway!). So that means that I can't post pics from this thing So, I'm out on the contest I'm sure!
But my next project is not a PT one, but a custom. Something that I can hop in and drive and not have to worry about beating on it and breaking it all the time, like my Camaro! LOL! The car is a 52 Buick Special (2 door post). I have a 92 Caprice chassis that I am going to cut up and put underneath the Buick, so I can have the lowered stance and better ride quality over the Stock junk. Not to mention the hard to find parts for straight 8 with TQ tube drivetrain. It will be nice to be able to pull into an Auto Zone and buy something that "fits" if it breaks on the road, which it WILL get driven all over the country, just like my other cars! The other parts that I have sitting ready and waiting are 55 Olds front fender/headlights, to get away from the bug eye look of the originals. I also have a 51 Merc back half that I am going to graft onto the back of car. It seems that the GM designers worked awesomely from the front to almost the back, then I think the they went on vacation when they got to the rear of the car! I want to have the car look so close to "right" while people are wondering what is not "right". I want to remove the small front dagmars in the grille and add a couple more grille bars where they were. Fill the hole in the hood and strip the emblems, but leave the awesome Buick side trim. Of course have the whitewalls and more than likely Caddy hubcaps (but not sure with the caps yet). I would like to do a 2" front and 3" rear chop, but not sure if I have the talent for that at this point!
The Camaro as most know, has a TT SBC and a TQ arm rear suspension under it, all home built in the garage with help from friends. I have yet to do any "light" Sheetmetal work on anything, so hopefully I can learn on this Buick custom with some killer Baileigh equipment!!:ups:

Wow time flies! So a little about me and my project first. I picked up my 1968 Firebird as a 30th birthday present in 2010. Car was much worse than expected but not big deal. I dove in - blowing the car to pieces, drilling spot welds, removing panels, and ordering new parts. I had originally planned to do a JRS setup with an LS motor. Project paused for about 12-18 months as I had a baby and bought a house. That is now settled and I'm back on the project.
Decided the C6 chassis parts and LS motor were too common these days for me... I wanted to do something unique. It doesn't need to be faster, but it needs to be cool and work well - and be not something you see everyday. So now I'm transplanting a BMW underneath the Firebird. Aftermarket is plentiful, performance is good, and trackwidth / wheelbase is just about right. While the project was on hold, I started accumulating parts and have most of the front and rear chassis.
While I have recently purchased some better tools, I'm pretty limited. MIG, plasma, compressor and air tools. So I've got the chassis table built and painted. Rear suspension is up on the chassis table waiting for final positioning. I've basically planned to build all the frame rails myself out of steel tube - cutting them with a cut-off wheel! :lostmarbles: What I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have is a Baileigh cold saw! While I'd still need to manage some compound angles, life would be much easier! Well, as easy as it can be in a 3.5 car garage / shop.... Future needs would be a sheet metal brake, bead roller, and..... let's see how far this can go!
I'll let the pictures do the talking from here.
