There is a change in direction for our next project car and it's doubtful it will be a Mustang. Either way it's months off and I am tired of having it hang out in my driveway :)
'68 Ford Mustang Coupe doesn't run. Would make a cool pt car or just a super fast track car.
The good: minimal rust confined to the usual spots. Front corners of both doors and the very bottoms of the lower rear quarter panels (the very bottom, would replace just the lower 2 corners). Absoultely ZERO rust under the car.. the frame rails and tunnel look to be perfect. I think the car had some sort of huge oil leak that coated the entire bottome in oil, thus protecting it. Go figure.. It's the main reason I bought the car since this area is generally expensive to fix and eaten up.
The interior is clean and all there, has some aftermarket upholstery job that is all there (for what thats worth). Dash is intact and even has the original PHILCO AM radio. Headliner is perfect. All glass is good except the drivers door which is scratched up.
Exteriror trim is all in good shape. dent in lower rocker trim on the front of the drivers side, could be fixed by a pro. The rest of the trim is pretty good. Car needs paint and body work and has body dings typical of a nearly 40 year old car. Car has the factory turn signal hood.
V8 Engine and trans still in the car but missing parts. Looks like there was either a small carb fire or maybe a small oil fire confined to the carb area (blistered the center of the hood). Previous owner pulled the carb and exhaust off to rebuild but never did it. Have driveshaft but it is off the car. I am sure it needs a rebuild. The shock towers are super solid as is the front frame. No rust except for the battery tray. Again, this car has zero structural rust that I have been able to find.
Front lower valance has a couple dents (haven't seen one that didn't) -- The trunk is very solid with only a tiny bit of surface rust.
I have more pics of the undercarriage and the small areas of rust. Great starting point for a project and the car could really be made to look great (I like the coupes).
The pt.com lateral-g.net price is $2400. Next week it will go on Craigslist for more, but I just want what I have into it.
Email me if your serious and want more pics of any area your curious about. Registration is current.
Thanks!
