Whats a reasonable price that you should/would pay for a top notch paint job?
Say something like "Sick Fish" ?

I believe what he is getting at is doing the metal work and paint. Just paint and materials will probably be 3 to $4,000. Body prep, panel replacement, cool custom mods...the list goes on and on, and so does the money spent.

So with all of that said, when you ask how much for a paint job you need to qualify that with what level of quality and what needs to be done. I am sure that you can find someone to scuff and shoot the outside of the car for $500 at one of those Earl Shives kind of places.

We'll from my stand point of owning a shop and being a painter! Here is a budget figure to go by!

Show/Driver paint
$1500 in material
$1500 to spray
$1500- $4000 labor (cut/buffing, prep work, etc)

The paint I did on my car I would not do for less than $7500, yeah that would include the minor body work, blocking the car, priming, blocking again, base, clear, cutting the clear and buffing it.

Were a bit more pricey, you'll spend at least $10,000 for basic, strip, ding repair, and paint. The normal Camaro needing quarters, door and fender patching, original or repo panel massaging, some floor work, rotisserie, under, over, inside and out, rolling, will go right at $20K.

i think franks pricing is about on the money.... i bid a certain 71 chevelle that needed 1 qtr and 2 tone black and orange.... as a rush job with the "good guy" discount....just a hair under 10k.

the car ended up goin someplace else..... the deadline wasnt met, the qtr wasnt replaced...... and well.....lets just say the customer isnt at all happy with the way the car looks 6 months later.

On a rust free mid size (f body, a body) you'll spend $10,000 -12,000 for strip, bodywork, BLOCK SANDING, line up all panels and paint. Basecoat clearcoat and wet sand + buff. Inculeds body and jams + material

As far as a top of the line paint work if u do the work the RIGHT way u'll have nice paint

The sick fish is a lot more then paint job.

I heard that the time RR spent on the 37 they just completed was the most they ever spent on a paint job. I've seen the car in person and it's one of the flattest, smoothest, paint jobs I have ever seen!

Blows the sick fish away!

I do not know exactly what the cost was to do the paint and body but at 100k that would 1/3 of the amount of money put in the car total.....I do know how much they paid to have paint and body work done on the chicayne because they sent it to one of the best guys in the country...I will PM you

or u can do what iam doing to the body work yourself and have a painter paint the car on the side and rent a booth. i have a guy that is doing my car for 50hr spraying hok and he dose very nice work but remeber that the body work is like 90% of what the final outcome will look like

I talked to Dick and Best of Show Coach works and he told me 5-6k, but thats for me too do all the prep work and sanding down to 320grit, and they would take it to 600wet, lay paint, and cut and buff.
