This car has a whole lot in common with what I have planned in my head for my 54 Olds. I kept going back to it but never caught anybody. There was some great fab pics in the trunk that I would really like to look at on line along with any others of the build of this car. Does anyone know the builder and is there a build thread of it anywhere? It has a RS chassis and RPM did the interior. I did notice its been nominated for Custom Rod of the Year.

Built by RPM Hot Rods. Was debuted a couple weeks ago at Detroit. The white Impala they built was right next to it.

This is FAR and ABOVE better IMHO than the Troy built version... This is a car I'd be proud to own. It's bad azz... and elegant at the same time.

Greg, your right this is a beautiful build! Out of curiosity, what about this car appeals to you more?

Nailed looked to me like you had to be going on 90 years old to think it was a hot rod... Other than understanding the turbos etc -- the LOOKS were OLD MAN...

This car - I don't care what motor is in it -- it just looks like a hot rod. I want to jump in it - put the top down and say "punch it! I know the road...."

I gotta disagree about Nailed but you're spot on in how this car looks. I think Gangsta Touring is a great way to describe Nailed

I rarely opine about someone else's build... it's their car... so as long as they love it... I'm good with that. But as a comparison between the two -- or even the THREE if you include Hal Wings (another TT build).... I'd take this black drop top any day.

I can see your point. It's definitely a different build style.

I like the car. Just not a fan of the 'been there done that' wheels and steering wheel though.

But if that's what the customer wanted... :G-Dub:

While I am not a fan of the interior mainly due b/c its read The car is very tasteful. Would have done different rims also. Overall, it looks very well thought out. Currently doing a'56 olds with similar design intents as this Buick. Retain classic designs and integrate modern flare vs add modern flare.

RPM did a '56 olds 98 which is awesome

I am in the early stages of planning my 54' Olds 88 2dr HT. Ben Hermance is working on my rendering now. You have a build thread for yours yet? Decided what direction you are going to go for frame and or suspension yet?

Thanks for the kind words on the Buick, It was a very fun build. As I type this The customer (which is from Pasadena, Ca) is in the shop having fun with the Buick today. As far as the wheels....... You can say what your opinion is on them. But..... this car is built to drive and is going to be driven like a rental car. So with that said why do a one-off wheel? The last time I checked too they are a Billet Specialties Profile Series wheel which to me isn't a joke at all. Your making it out like it has Boss or American Racing wheels on it. I tried to build this car to be somewhat timeless and I think it is. The Olds was done the same way and is almost 10 years old and still will kick ass today. I post this up on our website and if you need any build pictures let me know what your looking for and I'll make it happen!!! Thanks, Curt

The two builds look similar in design which is what caught my eye on the olds.

How was that chassis to install? aside from trans tunnel and tubs, and floor cutting required?

Gearheads - no build thread yet. basics are 324 TT olds/ OD auto trans, bags and some sort of aftermarket or mid 90's impala frame.

I loved the build. What I would really like to see is the fab pics you had in the book in the trunk and any more you are willing to share.

Sounds like we are on a lot of the same page. Also planning TT early rocket on my build.

Quick hijack, I got an early olds 3x2 intake sitting on the floor if one of you guys want that look (which would be AWESOME) under the hood.
Lemmie know if your interested!

It's a factory iron one with no carbs, I stole them off it for my wagon. Might sell them if the price was right I guess. I think it's a J-2, the carbs are 2G's.
I can get the numbers off it if you want.
