No kidding, I had no idea they cost that much. At what point is it going to become more cost effective to make some AMD quarters fit properly?

I cut two new AMD quarters off, must of been a real bad batch because they were bad everywhere, hate to spend this money but too deep now to worry about it

What makes you think NOS panels will fit properly without making them fit?

Are you 100% positive that they were AMD? I've sold a bunch of AMD sheetmetal over last 5 years and rarely have anyone with issues.

They were both AMD for sure,I put them on and I don't mine cutting and .welding all gaps but these were made terrible around tail lights and front to door.

Thanks Jay if these are not not much better I will sell them and try Goodmark, that's what was on the red car that I built and I would have to say they were a lot better quality,I am not bad mouthing AMD,ther metal is a lot thicker but all aftermarket sheet metal is just so inconsistent in different places.I am going to pick up new quarters on Monday and they are supposed to be over 30 plus years since stamped so hopefully they will be a little better,I know they will need some work,If I could weld like you Jay and a lot the other builders on here I would feel a lot better about using any brand.I need a a lot of grinding discs and bonds to help hide my poor welds.

I bought a left AMD for the last Camaro I did (Jeff's Blue Camaro). I have to say I've never had a panel fit so poorly. I should have returned it! For the right side of Jeffs car I decided to try a Goodmark....... I think it almost put it's self on. I will say this..... be careful with NOS panels. Sometime these are panels that didn't work on the assembly line so they'd just pass those issues on to someone else to deal with and sold them as parts.

I'd try a Goodmark before I drop a hole lot of cash on NOS panels.

Same here Jay when it was all said and done the crappy GOLDEN LEIGON fit my car the best! Go figure!! This subject has been beat to death in the end there all junk and no matter what your going to have to make them fit!! Including OEM!

Jeff AMD is thicker and heavier that's all it really has going for it. Not bad mouthing them either they all have to be worked to make them fit perfect in the end. This was my AMD!:bang:

Hey Mario your car is awesome,I was told yesterday that Golden Legion was one of the best by far in the aftermarket, sounds like them or Goodmark might be the way to go,thanks.

ADM Quarter. It was a 1/4 inch short from the outer leading edge to the trunk. I measured to factory quarter and it was a 1/4 inch wider then the ADM panel. Also where the quarter met the trunk filler wasn't even close not to mention the sail panel to the drip rail edge was all wrong too.

Goodmark quarter. No problems that I can think of. Everything went pretty smooth.

If you decide to try a Goodmark quarter.... try getting it local. Some after market sheet metal vendors carry Goodmark and you might be able to save on freight this way.

We just put quarters on a 70 Chevelle and had the exact same issue. I added 1/4 inch just like you did along the trunk/quarter (exactly btw) lol. They were from AMD

I wonder if AMD has changed their production facility or something. I did my Camaro 2 years ago now and had no issues at all. Everything fit perfectly. All AMD full quarters and drop panels.

What makes you think NOS panels will fit properly without making them fit?

Stefan,

I don't think that, nor did I say that. My statement makes the generally accepted assumption that the NOS panels require less effort to make them fit, not zero effort.

Has your experience found otherwise?

Was going to say Why would anyone pay 4000+ for NOS qaurter panels??
you still have to fit them and do bodywork??
the money you save on repos would more than pay to finish and install them

Wow just found this thread, that is absolutely crazy man. I haven't had any issues with repops at all, and we change alot cause we are in rust territory. Being original means that much?
