Dumb question:headscratch: ! BUT was wondering if the body will bolt together with the frame or Not! I have someone that offered me a 2nd gen sub and was :headscratch: thinking I wonder! Or will I just be :G-Dub: money away?
Thanks

They are differant enough it would take quite a bit of fab work to get it under the car.

Thanks Scott!
That's what I thought. What about here under project threads Livewire, they used 2nd gen control arms on a 1st gen frame? What advantage does this offer over stock? Is that just a bolt on or are there mods involved? :thankyou:

TravisI don't have any idea.As soon as I used my 1st gen 2nd gen sub frames to build my jigs.I got rid of them. What are U trying to do.There are easier ways to build on a budget.

There was a guy on Team Camaro forum that did a 2nd gen sub swap into a first gen. The sub holes were very close to bolting in.

You might be able to weld the center section out of the 2nd gen into the center of the 1st gen. if there they are close to the same width.I dont have a sub frame to measure here.

Dave,Scott ,
Do see any advantages of using the 2nd gen sub under a 1st gen,vs. SpeedTech or RideTech's 1st gen factory sub kits? I really want to build a nice driving/handling camaro. Planning on SpeedTechs torque arm, just trying save some cash were possible.:thankyou:

The second gen sub is more narrow at the frame rails & will clear wide tires a bit easier. Not really better in suspension geometry. The steering geometry is better. The steering column & shaft alignment will need some work.
The Team Camaro member did the swap quickly in his garage, so it was pretty simple to do.

First gen sub http://pozziracing.com/Media/F_gen_Firebird_sub.jpg
Middle mounts on a first gen Camaro are 40 5/8" apart.
Second gen is 42"

Here's a photo I saved of the swap. sorry it's not very good.

Thanks Dave!
After hearing what your thoughts are between the 2 subs, I think I'll just stick with my 67' sub. Thank you for explaining.
