My brother recently purchased a 66 mustang over the weekend. It was painted viper red by the previous owner, however during transport from the body shop to the previous owner's home the trunk opened and slammed, chipping the paint. My brother would like to get the chip fixed as well as some other minor things touched up while he's at it. I would describe the paint quality as better than new car finish, but not show quality. He'd like to have the same quality that is on the car now when the paint is repaired as he plans to drive the car daily. Any recommendations? The shops recommended here appear to only do show quality which is something he is not really looking for. Thanks in advance.

I wish I could afford their work and not worry about scratching/chipping the paint when driving the car daily.

Did you get an estimate from them? If not it never hurts.

I have not. You are right though, it never hurts to ask. But my brother and I also want to keep realistic goals and budget. I remember reading here or PT their going rate just for body work. I don't think they would feel comfortable standing behind the repair work unless they do the whole car. The issue is they do AWESOME work, but that's not what we need for this car. Even my untrained eye saw there were a couple issues with the current paint prep and my brother is really not looking to open a can of worms. If he was going to do a complete repaint I would even tell him to go that direction. I hope I'm not coming across as a jerk, that is not my intention. I am grateful for the info, but just don't want to waste their time asking. I guess, a better question would be who knows a good collision repair shop that you would take your everyday Toyota, Ford, Chevy to?
