Don't work yourself into a trap! Find some time to strategize or a delegate it to a trusted source. This stuff can snowball until you start constantly waking up in the middle of the night wondering what the heck happened to my happy place. Control it while you can!

You've got a great product that's marketed and produced in hands-on fashion that many of us gearhead's really appreciate, respect, and want to support. I wish you the best of success and peace of mind at night.

Waking up thinking about fabrication tactics, geometry, stance, and styling cues on a project is good. Waking up in a sweat thinking about insurance, payroll, lines of credit, legal issues, accounts payable, facilities and equipment overhead, human resources liabilities, etc. isn't quite as enjoyable. There are people that actually enjoy dealing with those "un-pleasantries" and they will allow you focus your energy on what you enjoy and do best.

I see that this is going to be a new design, but will it still be based off of the c6 components? The new design will be the same C-6 geometry as before. We are trying to build a more Professional looking built sub frame.Something that proform's and look's as good as the top sub frame on the Market. It will be priced competively for the amount of Mfg. time we have invested in it.

Nice piece, Scott!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are you using a curved sway bar arm? I ask because the bar tube seems pretty close to the height of the LCA mounts.
http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h324/bmock5/chevellexv011.jpg
Any pics of the bar "mocked" up in there with the end links, etc?

coolwelder62
02-09-2013, 11:38 AM
The center of the sway bar is 1.25 higher than the LCA mount center. And I bent the splined sway bar arm so there is no binding with 1/2 rod end links.

This is a good looking frame. Kinda glad I've still got the OEM sub since I have more options by waiting. The punch/flare would go great with the look I'm after. :)

Couple questions...

1. Is the hub-to-hub dimension of this setup the same as OEM? Trying to understand what, if anything, is to be considered when it comes to wheel/tire fitment. A little narrower than my current setup would be added benefit with my setup.

2. Will there be tabs front and rear of the LCA mounting locations to put them in double-shear?

Hi Jeff,

LOL - yep kinda.

The plan is to debut the car this year as a driver and then over the winter tear it down again and step the build up to the next level.

Then of course there is the 72 Baracuda project that I plan to go all out on. Full custom chassis, raised floors something similar to what Tim Bruning did with the e-ticket challlenger. Just not twin turbo.

Great looking frame, couple questions ..with those holes in it, will u get water and moisture in frame rails??also is this new frame the same price point as the art morrison frame???only reason I ask is cause I thought was more budget friendly??If a person choose's to have the dimpled holes added you could get moisture inside. We had Kevin's powder coated w/a primer first then powdercoated satin black over the primer.I don't know about AME pricing. Our frame's Pricing include's a heat treated chromoly Splined sway bar,Ajustable upper coil over shock mount(For ride height adjustments),And made in America RideTech Coil over shock's and truck freight shipping.I believe we have proved that the VRP sub frame work's as well or Better as the top after market sub frame's.I still offer the 1st. design sub frame W/O any shocks,C-6 componet's,& Rack at a very budget friendly pricing.1st design bare stage 1 sub is $3450.00,pick up some used c-6 on ebay $350.00,used rack $50.00,China made coil overs $350.00-$400.00 now you are into a complete sub frame for about $ 4200.00 Thats pretty budget friendly. Thank you Scott.

Scott,I think your product is fantastic and you have real racing data to bsck it up..I hope I didn't come across in a bad way, I was just surprised it was priced about the same as the art morrison setup..so you can get the new setup with the holes??

I meant without the holes? The hole are now an N/C option.I will do or not.My sub frame's come w/a heat treated chromoly splined sway bar.I believe that's an extra cost W/AME.I can also offer a budget minded customer a 2nd design frame W/cut & welded main frame rail's instead of mandrel bent tubing for $600.00Less.

FYI,GM has started adding a $50.00 core charge to each new Lower C-6 control arm.So that going add a $100.00 to the cost of a complete sub frame package.I will not rise my pricing until Oct.15th. 2013.Giving those of you wanting a sub frame a little more time to save. And I will lower the cost of complete sub frame's by $500.00 unitl Oct.15th.Also.Making the cost of the first design frame's $5350.00,New design $6350.00.My powder coater shut down and I haven't found another yet.So no powder coating for a while.Thank's Scott. :thankyou:

The std. unit's will already allow a 18x11 wheel w/315 tire. I am working on a narrow unit that will allow a 18x12 wheel w/335 tire W/O any fender widening. The narrow unit requires alot of header work and steering shaft fitment to work with the narrow frame rails.Call me if you have more Questions.

Hey Scott, any news on the narrowed chassis? What will the track width be?
I hope to see you and Kevin next month in Texas ans check out the new sub.

I hope to see you and Kevin next month in Texas ans check out the new sub.Shannon, the narrowed track width front is finished. But the Rack I used doesn't have enough travel to get the steering angle I want.So I am looking for a differant rack to suit my need's.I figured out the header's which I thought would be the big hurdle, but wasn't.Steering is super tight. We can talk in ft.worth next month.

I am excited to see this! Are you considering a post weld heat treat operation. No,I'm thinking Some of the main componets will machined from billet.Interlock and bolt togather.Smaller pcs. will be cut and tig welded. If I do it will probably only one.Materials have cost a arm & leg.Wanting to buy a smaller machining center if I sell the chevelle.I also have an Idea to do a smaller round tube unit out of 4130.Doing a price, time study, and weight comparison now.I want build something that has some resale value.

Hey Sir,

What off the shelf headers work with your sub? This would be for an LS motor.

Don't work yourself into a trap! Find some time to strategize or a delegate it to a trusted source. This stuff can snowball until you start constantly waking up in the middle of the night wondering what the heck happened to my happy place. Control it while you can!

In hindsight, it would seem that this was excellent advice. If anyone is considering one of these frames can I strongly suggest checking out the feedback forum before sending any money.
