Does anyone use dupont paint? Looking for a red color. Has anyone used the Hot hues? Whould like to see pics if anyone has some. A body shop that I am thinking about using only shoots dupont.
Thanks,
Jon

It's as good a paint as anything else out there for the most part. Until you start getting into crazy candies, blends, and tricky stuff Dupont 2 stage stuff is good. Every painter will have his or her opinion about what they spray, but by in large it's all about even. My shop sprays PPG exclusively, but my car will wear House of Kolors paint because I was after a certain color.
Do not be bound by one color chart when painting your car! Just because that shop uses one paint manufacturer, doesn't mean you should be restricted to that single catalog.
If you start to narrow down a few particular reds you like, call TCP Global and order some 3 ounce, spray ready samples. Grab a hood from a wrecking yard for cheap and have the shop spray them out in strips right next to each other. This is the only true way to work with red. Color chips are never, ever truly representative of what a hue will actually do over sealer. Good luck!

dupont is good paint, if your not getting a perfect mirror cut and buff 7700 clear will be fine, if going super nice step up to premier clear.

It's just as good as any overpriced paint. Some colors are so watered down to where it takes 6-8 coats.

I sprayed dupont for about 5 years, I also sprayed ppg for 10 years before that, Here is the deal with paint. It is all about product knowledge, and each paint company has different qualitys of products, Acrylic enamel, cheaper, single stage urethane, better, and basecoat clearcoat being the best. There are also different clears. Like show quality vs a production clear. Production would be faster dry jam it through the booth, vs something for show is probably going to dry a little slower flow out and have better doi, Distinction of Images. That is basically how well you can see reflection. My personal opinion would be basecoat clearcoat, the clearcoat gives you your ultavioulet protection from the sun, that causes fading in reds. and can also be colorsanded and buffed to give a slick as glass finish. I would stick with what the shop uses also for warranty purposes. Maybe even ask the shop about there warranty. good luck hope I helped you a little
