I am ready to start the install of my floor pans on my 72 Nova. I have industrial metal fabrication experience but have never done anything on a car. I want the cleanest look possible so the pans will be butt welded in and seam sealed when done. I have the full length pans for each side. I will be doing one side at a time. I have been to to put jack stands under the car but have been told different places to put jack stands. What is the correct position? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I just finished my pans on my '69 last weekend. I put the stands under the subframe and the rear frame boxes just before the kick up towards the diff. These cars flex a bit, but the floor braces don't really walk much if you do them one at a time. I lapped my edges by a half inch, spot welded them and seam sealed them up with some Kent product I have found to work well. I see you're going to butt yours which will also work well. One thing I did find is that you will have to pie wedge the front, inner corners where they meet the tunnel to make that radius. The aftermarket pans don't have as steep of a turn there so you need to make up the corner as you tack it and hammer it. Good luck!
