Ok..here is the run down. I have a 67 camaro with stock sub and am running stock lower and upper control arms at the moment but plan to upgrade to ridetechs upper and lowers in the near future. I already have their muscle bar and just ordered the complete tru-turn kit. Awhile back I bought Mr. Rupps set of forgeline wheels knowing they would take some work to get to fit. I had my rear end narrowed to fit the rears and now its time to work on the fronts. Here is what I know. The fronts are 18 x 9.5 and when measuring the backspacing I come up with something around 7 1/4". I also know that with the wilwood brake kit I have they add about .18 (3/16) to each side from the stock hub. Now with that being said I have read till my eyes have bleed that most guys running the tru-turn set up on a 67-68 are running anywhere from a 18x9 to 18x10 with a 275 tire. They are running about 5.75" of backspace and some metal work may be required tothe fender/wheel well areas. I’m ok with some clearance work / tweeking to get everything to fit correct. I will run a 275 tire when I find a decent set of kdw's for sale used. With all that being said I know I have to get the backspacing correct in order for everything to fit correct. Without the tru-turn on I did a dry fit last night and felt like the wheels wouldn't work no matter what I do. When bolted up to the car as is I felt that the wheel was a little less than flush with the fender lip. I put about 3/4" of spacers on the hub to pull the wheel out a bit but feel like the wheel it just about flush with the fender. If I follow what is recommended I will need 1.5" spacer or to get new barrels and lips to change the backspacing. I’d rather get a cheap 50-100$ spacer first just to make sure everything clears and works before dropping over 600 on new lips/barrels. I feel like if I bring the wheel out 1.5" the actual wheel lip will be outside of the fender completely. Looking for some opinions on all of this. Thanks, Steven

The answer is IT DEPENDS

In another recent thread on PT
http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?95459-18x10-wheel-fitment-on-front-of-68-Camaro

Bret said the ridetech car with uncut fenders has has 18x9.5's with 275's and 5.5BS

In this thread,
http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?81129-RideTech-Tru-Turn-System&highlight=Ridetech+Tru+Turn
Ridetech says the 48hr camaro has 18x10 with 275 and 5.75bs

The question becomes the other mods. The 48hr camaro has cut fenders, and shorter than stock body bushings. It more than likely also runs more negative camber than anyone without Ridetechs tire budget would run on the street. Negative camber can be the dealbreaker because the inward tilt of the top of the tire makes a big difference when you are talking about barely clearing and enough scraping to be a pain in the a$$. For example, this camaro,
http://www.rhoadescamaro.com/build/
is being built to an SCCA legal class, and cant use many of the parts protouring cars have access to. He is running in excess of -5 degrees of camber with 265's on 18x9's with stock suspension. Works on the track, but that much neg camber would equal short tire life on the street, not to mention it almost looks like something is broken with the tire tilted so much. The 48hr camaro doesn't use near that much, but even with -2 degrees, tire life will be shortened considerably.

The only way you are going to find out on your car is to get a 275 and mount it, using spacers to get it dialed in. If you take the spring out so you can check clearance at all ride heights with the car on jack stands, you should be able to do it with washers instead of getting a bunch of expensive spacers.

Let us know what you find out
