Thinking about getting a new paint gun. What do people think of the DeVilbiss Finishline 4 HVLP?
Thanks,
Jon

I think that gun is more for a guy who doesn't paint everyday. I personally use sata and have a iwata lph-400 that I like for epoxy and spraying single stage. Might help to know what products you are looking to spray. Joe

They're decent enough to paint once in a while, but if you paint all the time, buy the best you can afford. Be prepared to spend $600-800 or more for Sata or Iwata

I mostly use ppg and dupont paint. For my up coming project, I was going to try house of kolor basecoat system.
Thanks

You can also look at the Tekna which is made by DeVilbiss. Out in Cali at our shops it's what everyone uses. They are less then the Sata 4000 and the Iwata but still in the $450-550 range. Works really well and if you get one with their new coating they clean up really easy nothing sticks to it.

Any good spray gun is going to cost you some money, check Craigslist and eBay you can find deals on all the above guns.

I second the Devilbiss Tekna. I purchased a Tekna Copper with the 7E7 air cap and love the gun. It lays metallics well and clears very smooth. You can pick one up on ebay without the cup for $340. I use the disposable cups, so the aluminum cup purchase was not needed for me. They are very good guns with the quality right up there with Sata's.

Another Devilbiss gun that is less than the Tekna, but better than the FLG-4 is the Devilbiss GFG-670 PLUS. It's a good gun, but not in the league with the Tekna or the Sata's and Iwata's.
