Too bad we went over the edge a while ago. Almost 17 trillion in debt?!?!:faint:
Yeah, let's hope it stops there. (We know it won't.) At least the Farm Bill did get passed and we don't have to shell out a 'wheel barrel of dollars' for a gallon of milk.

In the big picture they did very little. From the top down our government is failing. I am disgusted by their lack of ability and willingness.

Absolutely right!
Let's look at the broader picture... it's the American people that continue to elect, and then re-elect, ever more polarized legislators.

Oh but wait, theres even a bigger picture.......There aren't enough American people voting or getting involved.
We need to get the message out and motivate more Americans........create posters of all the faces of these irresponsible politicians and hold these bastards accountable!!

If more Americans get involved, the posters won't be needed. But I do agree that more participation will help.

Posters with the faces of the politicians and a description of the role they play or have played posted throughout America will give the people with not enough time, resources, or energy a visual of what and who is going on in America and possibly motivate them to get more involved.

12 trillion with ourselves...its mind blowing. Don't worry they will just raise their credit limit. Debt ceiling HAAAAA you need an actual house to have a ceiling.

I've said it time and again -- people get caught up in voting "Presidential" and then they'll go and vote for their Representatives and Senators and they don't have ANY IDEA what they stand for, or maybe even, what party they are with! And they're FAR more important! The POTUS doesn't make law... he's just a friggin' mouthpiece. The House and the Senate make the laws.

I watched the poker/vote game in the shop tonight while working on the car. It's comforting knowing that Air Force 1 is en-rout to Hawaii now to help us spend our way out of this trivial deficit issue.

People Voting is great but most are lemmings who get swayed by the marketing hype of big $$ marketing; From either side.
How about we all focus on ending the policy of lobbying. How does out vote ever count when a paid goon with an expense account is always in our legislators office telling them how to vote.
If somebody can explain the value of lobbyist or why we all continue to allow the practice to exist I'd appreciate it.
Legislators will never represent their constituency if they are only listening to special interests.

Won't do crap.
The $$ will buy the votes for their guy and the Lobbyist will keep them informed on what their backers want the vote to be.
Vote for your city and county reps and attend a council meeting or two. Push for change from below.
Any post at a state or national level is dictated by the marketing of the candidate by whoever has the $$.

Okay -- A quickie summation:
The "fiscal cliff" resolution managed to keep or ADD a whole slew of special tax breaks for named corporations etc. There's too many to even list - but basically it was all lobbying for their very own special "deal" to be included in this bill passing.
It's so F'n' UNamerican I could just spit!

Hard for me to believe that. I dont think the lobbyists have access to the majority of our middle class. Nor are most of our middle class Americans in a position to where they would have access to the lobbyist to even recieve any sort of cash to sway them one way or the other. There are a whole lot of us out here working mega hours, trying to put in some quality family time, and dont have enough time to research and get educated enough to know who's who and whats what. My belief is that there just aren't enough of the middle class involved.

You just made my point WE aren't represented. IF you are educated you realize you have no real choice at the polls.
If you are the majority you are sucked into the marketing hype of picking one of the two sides that don't give a crap about you and are bought by special interest.

Wow. That sucks in so many ways. I used to say that I dont vote because I dont have the time to research who and what I'm voting on and that even if I did it wouldn't make a difference. Now that I want to make time and get involved I feel like I'm back to square one but still have a hrd time seeing that there cant be a solution to this problem(I just reflected back to your lobbyist comment).
Does this hold true for politicians that get voted into the Senate and the House?

We're screwed. Start voting at your local level. Go to your city council meetings. Even at that level it is sickening but you can make your voice heard somewhat.
