So the best I can tell, the rears on the 48 hour Camaro are the Falken rt- 615k in 315/30/18.
Is this right, or are they 335/30/18's? I haven't seen the 335's advertised.
I just want the stickiest tire I can get in a 200 rating and the guys at Ridetech say these can't be beat! Just want to get the size right before I buy.
Thanks...
Matt

18x10 with 275/35/18 and 18x12 with 315/30/18
I know of someone who did a tire test, same day, same track, back to back, and went faster on the falkens.

Thanks Bad94, funny how a smaller tire can be so much better. Damn things aren't cheap, but I think that's what I'm gonna run!

i have a set of them sitting in my shop waiting for wheels to be built....cant wait to try them...
just a fyi i used discount tire direct and they price matched what i found on ebay or other forums/websites. i ended up saving $300 for the set compared to their price listed on the website.

If you go to the ride tech site and watch the video of the making of the 48 hour camero(section about wheels) they are 335's on that car

Originally it had 335 BFGs on it. They have since made the change to Falkens, which are 315/30/18.

Is there advantage to the 315 you think? Im running a 315 now and was thinking about going to a 335.

I talked to the guys at Ridetech this summer at Holley LS Fest and they said the difference in grip between the BFG 335's and the Falken 315's was dramatic! Said the BFG's didn't grip near as well, and the Falkens improved their track times by seconds in many cases.
Falken doesn't make the 615k in a 335, so that is as big as it gets. It still looks good on a 12" rim, so that is the tire I'm gonna run.

Can you run a 315 on a 12'' rim? Iknow there web site only recommends up to and 11.5'' rim. I would love to have more options. Wish I did a 19x12.

Here's how they look with 12" rims...

honestly i would run a 11.5" rim. That way if you want to run a 335 or 315 they will both fit on there nice. My 315s are perfect for me on a 11" wheel. They would still look pretty good on a 11.5 but my opinion is that would be too much stretch for a 12"
i see alot of supra guys running that

Isn't the 335 1" wider then the 315? am I correct. Im running a 315 on a 9.5" wheel now and it dosnt look to bad. Im do for a wheel change and figured I would go with a 335 this time.

a toyo r888 315/30/18 should be ran up to a 11.5" wheel and a 335/30/18 starts with a 11.5" wheel. That is your most ideal option. Go to tirerack and type in those sizes and you can see EVERYTHING you want to know about those tires

honestly i think a 315 tire will do everything a 335 will. I made the change from a 335 BFG to a 315 Falken and picked up almost 2 seconds on the autocross with just two runs and no suspension tuning.

too stretched for my liking. A 11.5 would look alot better and still allow you to go to a 335/30/18. Trust me im in the tire business and i spent countless hours looking at the perfect tire angle on the correct size rim

I guess from my stand point im just looking for the best look, There is no place to autocross in my area so mostly powertours, and cruises are all I get to participate in:(. I do think randy has a piont about using the 11.5 wheel, It will allow you to run either size tire.

I ordered a set of the Falken's this morning for my project (275 and 315). Interestingly, the guy I ordered from said that they only had 4 of the 315's in their warehouse, and he didn't have any more on order. Given that they auto-restock them, he suggested that perhaps Falken was out of stock at the moment (a guess, but it makes sense).
So while I could have gone with a slightly wider tire, I think these are going to be a good fit for my project to get it on the road and track. :)

why are some people picking the falkens over a michelin ps2?

Speaking for myself, there were a few reasons...
The Falken is a relatively new tire design vs. the PS2 which has been around for a while. The Falken appears to be designed closer to a track tread pattern than the PS2 also.
Cost. The Falkens are a good bit less expensive
People that are capable of pushing these tires much harder than I can seem to like them
Having had a set of PS2's on a car before (C6 Vette), after about 1/2 of the life of the tires, they were hard and had little to no traction.
This will be my first try with Falkens. If I don't like them, I'll look for something else. I'm more likely to go towards a set of Toyo R888's than the PS2 though for my driving plans...

in my case i was able to get the ps2 20% under cost so i went with them. The r888 are track tires and i wanted something for the street as well as autocrossing
