Hey guys, just wondering if you have a great source for high quality stranded wire and insulated crimp interconnect? The copper wire sold at most auto parts stores is too stiff and the crimps use poor quality plastic as an insulator.

Waytek is about the best out there. TXL is a good grade of insulation for most any project on the car.

For interconnects it depends on what you want to do and where it goes. For sealed connections the Delphi GT150 and GT280 series of connectors is the current popular GM type. WeatherPack is the more popular aftermarket sealed part. For many non-sealed/interior connections the tried-and-true Packard connectors are hard to beat.

If you're looking for nylon insulated ring terminals the parts sold by Del City are very good but there's usually a 100pc minimum quantity. The translucent nylon insulator works very well and is softer than most others.

At least you recognize there are MAJOR differences in the wire quality! Most don't.

Higher strand count --- and there's lots of different covers. Some are oil and gas resistant -- or withstand high heat etc such as Cross Link.... that's what we want to use.

Another good source is Grainger -- but you have to go through the catalog and kind of know what you're looking for in wiring.

The company I work for does harness work for the after market. We use TXL for everything due to it's fire and heat ratings. GXL is also a good choice.

As others have mentioned Waytek is a good place to buy wire. We normally buy our connectors from www.powerandsignal.com or www.mouser.com. Mouser is normally who I go with for smaller quanities. If you have trouble finding a connector you need let me know.
