So i have been doing transmission research lately for my ongoing project 69 camaro. This car is being built for performance but im also still trying to keep decent street manners. So Im looking at a modified magnums from Rockland Standard Gear specifically there magnum with ZR1 1-6 But different final drive(3.90) was wondering what you guys thought about this setup? Engine is a BBC 427 600+hp 580ft lbs and 7000 rpm redline. Link below has my wheel, tire size, and gearing info included. Im a newb to transmissions and gearing setups so my ears are open thx all.

the only input i have is i was running the viper 6 speed with the .50 6th and tire size is close to yours in height 255/50/16 which they say is 26 tall going down the E way i had to go 83 mph to get 2200 rpm and not chug the engine this is with the 3.90 gear I put 864 rwhp and 767 tq at 5700 rpm with no problems so what im saying is the .50 6th was a waste for my combo good for nascar i know your not running the .50 but thought i would throw that out there. as you have a choice between to raito's also if your car rev's fast you will be on the clutch more then the gas that's what happened to me i ended up going to a 4l80e which i love.. good luck..

I would just run the 2.66 style T56 Magnum and be done with it.

That's what I'm running in my LS7 powered RX-7 with 7300rpm redline, 650hp/600ft/lbs at the flywheel, 3.73 gears, 335/30/18 out back.

What type of racing will you be doing? Weight is the real enemy....

My LS7 is 430lbs. What do you think your BBC weighs?

I'm using the Tranzilla with the ZR1 gearing, 335/30-18, and 3.89 rear gears. I love the way the trans shifts, the long first gear is the ticket for auto-x. The only drawback is take offs in traffic but I think in my case it has more to do with the clutch/flywheel combo I'm using than the gearing.
