View Full Version : Matching shifter handle for Clayton pedals?

I've had my eyes on a set of Clayton Machine Works pedals for my build for a long time. Once I converted over to manual trans I, of course :), wanted a shifter handle to match the pedal design. I've spoken to Clay@Clayton on a couple of occasions and a shifter handle is something that he has considered. Without knowing how much interest there would be, and considering other priorities, it just hasn't made it out of the idea stage yet.

So I'm here trying to drum up some interest in hopes that Clay will move forward with the shifter in time for my build. OK :lateral: what are your thoughts on this?

Here is a pic of the pedals in case you have previously missed out on this awesomeness

Those are pretty cool, and they are offered in 6", 8”, or 10” lengths.
Each length available in straight or 30 degree kick back and can be finished in Black, Brushed or Black w/ Brushed Edges. On the Bowler site for $115.00

and if those 2 pics weren't enough, here is Bob Bertelsen’s 1971 Chevy Camaro, dubbed “Brute Force” with Clayton pedals and the Bowler Billet Manual Shift Lever!!!

Yeah I checked out the link and the bowler piece is nice. Must be new or I just missed them the last time I was on their site. I noticed today they made front page over on PT as well. About as close of a match design wise as I've seen to the Clayton pedals. thanks for the heads-up.

I also found Bowler to stock the drilled shift knob I had been looking for :). Just need to decide on colors and talk to Santa ha!

Ah, very nice. I was looking for something like this to go with my pedals too.

I thought I saw Lokar had some new shift sticks like this at SEMA. I will look and see I'd I have any pics and who makes them.

Twist Machine has a similar one too I believe. Not trying to take away from Clayton as I'm sure they could also come up with their take too.

I almost posted Twist shifter as well, but it did not match as well as the bowler did

Jeff,

Would you happen to have a part # for this? I'm trying to search for it, and I'm not having much luck with Lokar's site nor Summit Racing...

Thanx!

After seeing this thread, I went with the 8" Bowler Billet Shift Lever with the 30° kickback, Black anodized. It''s a great piece, comes with all of the mounting hardware which I didn't even expect.....nice surprise.

If there is anything positive about a project moving at a snails pace is that there are always cool new parts hitting the market :).

I went up to the Nashville GG this weekend and found Clayton Machine in the vendor area. Turns out they are getting ready to release these new shifter handles that match their pedals. Woot! Gonna come in 8" and 10" versions. There were a few cool shifter handles suggested in this thread. However, for anyone as anal retentive about some of this stuff as I am these will be the ticket. Very nice match to the pedal arm design and are coated the same.

With the pedal setup

Both pedal designs will now have a matching shifter

This is another "prototype" handle they also had at the show. Apparently this one is adjustable. Those round rings around the hole hold the assembly together. I believe the top and bottom arm pieces must be splined or similar so you can disassemble it, index to one of the adjustment locations (3 or 4 I think), reassemble the unit. Pretty cool idea. They weren't sure about coating options yet but had a few things in mind it sounded like.
