Hi Guys, just a question for the brake guru's. I have wilwood 13" front & rear 4 piston on a 67 camaro. Can I keep the discs and just replace the calipers with Baer units? I know this might sound weird but I live in Australia and i can't get wilwoods engineered over here. I'm asking as it would save me quite a bit of $$ on shipping/taxes if I just buy the calipers.

Thanks,

Jonny

Can you pick up some PBR 6 piston units manufactured on your island?

Tobin at Kore3 may be able to advise you and possibly hook you up with a "local" contact.

I'm not a "guru" but I believe the rotor and caliper mounting dimensions are a universal specification.

Ironically, most of the Aussies I've spoken to can't get the PBR stuff for anywhere near the pricing we can get them for here...go figure.

As for your Wilwood kits, the hubs/rotors/calipers and associated mounting brackets and hardware tend to be specific to the application. While many of the Wilwood calipers share mounting patterns, most are not common with either PBR or Baer to the best of my knowledge. Wilwood does offer a few limited caliper options which include dust seals if that's the technical legal problem with your current setup, so I would probably start there. That may solve the front issues with calipers only, although since you didn't specify whether you're running their Superlite or Dynalite 4-piston calipers in the rear, I'm not sure about that end.

You can sort on Wilwood's website by "dustboot (http://www.wilwood.com/Calipers/CaliperList.aspx?appl=&subname=&dustboot=Yes&numofpist=&mtspec=&pistarea=)" if you would like to see caliper the options available.

Cool, thanks a lot for the info guys. I will have a look on the wilwood website. The rears are the 12.19" dynalite pro 4 piston with handbrake.

Just looked these up on wilwood website:

If these will fit front and rear it should solve my issues as they are due to the dynalite's not having dust seals. Pity they don't do a 6 piston? If this will work for me I'm sure that there will be quite a few Aussie's over here interested to know about these, it's a huge saving not having to buy a full set of baer brakes just to keep the authorities happy, more $$ for engine!
