Winner announced!

And the winner is.... RocketRod with his guess of 1700.

Here's the info: For each individual light, the 3 different ball endmills make a total of 859 3D passes. So 1718 for a pair. This ends up being about 1,942 pages, totalling 89,118 lines of code like this:

N296X-8.7838Y2.1841Z-.1211
N298X-8.7739Y2.1891Z-.1397
N300X-8.7533Y2.1932Z-.1422

I'd like to thank everyone for their participation as well as again thanking Marquez Design for donating them for the promotion.

RocketRod, shoot me a PM or e-mail and I'll get these shipped out to you.

Lateral-g Spring Give Away!

The Swag: A set of Marquez Design billet 67/68 RS Camaro tail lights, complete with all mounting hardware and custom gaskets!

The Contest: To machine these from solid aluminum, it takes three different sized ball end mills. Tell me the exactly how many 3D passes it takes to machine the Marquez Design Billet 67/68 tail lights. Make your guess and I'll add it to the first post of this thread. This contest is open for all guesses from now until April 28th when the winner will be announced.

The Rules: In the event of a tie, the person who answered first is the winner. You may only post once. My Moderators are not eligible to win although I encourage them to participate.

My Notes: I want to thank Pascual and everyone at Marquez Design for donating the billet tail lights. Please stop by MarquezDesign.com (www.Marquezdesign.com) and see what else they can offer you. If the winner does not own a 67/68 Camaro, there are plenty of guys here that do and selling them via the Lateral-g.net Classifieds is quick and easy.

This give away kicks off the sale of the Marquez Design 67/68 Tail Lights which are now available!

Are we talking each direction change (ie "x", "y", and "z"), or each level pass?
If I understood correctly, it is my first guess.

Finally, something that I can put on my car!

Mike, it total cutting passes to make the set. I don't want to give too much info as I want everyone to have a good chance at winning.

I have no idea. I contacted the machinist and asked him for some technical info and he gave me the total passes, the total number of lines of code, etc.

Can we ask questions?

You can ask all the questions you want but I'm not giving out any info - especially since 70+ people have already given their guess. It wouldn't be fair to them. The whole idea behind this trivia question is to give everyone an equal chance at winning.
