Hello,

I have just finished installing an LS engine in my Camaro and I see that a couple of the ignition wires are touching my Stainless Works headers (for stock subframe and steering box). Do any of you people have any ideas or solutions to this problem ?

Without pictures about all anyone can suggest is route them in a manner that doesn't contact the header. Not enough information. ;)

I was just wondering if this was a common problem with that combo.

Pictures will be forthcoming on Monday.

thanks,

Here are some pictures of the problem. As you can see, some of the wires are a little too close for comfort for my liking.

Any ideas, other than another set of headers, would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I used aftermarket wires with 90 degree plug boots. They have a lot more room than the factory wires do.

yep, I believe there is a brand that has a reflective coating on it too.

cheezer - These answers are along the lines I was thinking. Non-OEM custom addembled possibly with high qualitythermal sleeves.

I have the re-designed SW headers and I used BWD Select - Spark Plug Wire Set
Part Number: CH7875 from O'Rielly's (http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/BWD1/CH7875.oap?pt=02815&ppt=C0334) They have a lifetime warranty and all the wires clear except #5, which I wrapped with a Taylor heat shield (similar to the INSUL-BOOT in the previous post).

Thanks for the quick responses

No O'Rielly's in Canada, but I have cross referenced part numbers at NAPA before.

As far as brands, do the boots on the MSD wires bend like they say? The product literature says straight boots, but on their site the say "bend to fit". Is this so ?

I just ordered the MSD wires yesterday.

Once again, thanks for the input.

I ran into that same issue with a set of SW headers on a 2006 GTO. The MSD wires will fix your problem since the boots are bendable so you can make them fit how you want. should fix your issue

Had exactly the same problem. I ended up using the stock wire but used these http://www.kingsbornewires.com/product.sc?productId=1005&categoryId=98

They fit perfectly and for $3.50 each it's a deal if you already have a set of wires.

Good luck with the MSD. The boots are cheap. They don't snap on the plug after removing them a couple times.

If you take the heat shield off the stock wires you can bend them just a little to clear the header.

If you are buying new wires get a custom set from FIRECORE50. They are the best wires I have ever had on my car.
