Agreed.
The lack of timely reporting is an issue. Who's assigned to cover it this year?

Stielow was a man on a mission. The fact that the chase/video car went off track trying to keep up pretty much says it all.
Here's some more FB pics.

Associated Press- GM engineer Mark Stielow ran his vintage 1967 Camaro equipped with a heavily modified Corvette LS9 motor for an extended period of time today in Nevada.
This environmentally altering event has cancelled out daylight savings time in parts of the U.S.

that's a pretty amazing feat for mark to kick the high tech late model vettes butt....congrats mark and thanks for all you've done to create the whole pro touring scene... you still da man.
While watching the speed stop challenge, Mark was on the big track you could see him enter the long straight. The chase vette was not keeping up with him at all. The end of the big straight there very large flames coming from Marks exhaust. It was just bad a$$ watching it come down the back straight.

Well hot damn! lol
Felt good about the speed/stop and autocross but never heard my time on the road course.
I look at it this way.. if I could wheel the car to 6th then a good driver could have even done better since there's no way i ran 10/10ths on the road course.. Makes me proud of the old girl.
And after the race I loaded it with all my stuff and drove her home.. Very happy with a "top 3" finish in the field of PT cars.
And a big congrats to Mark Stielow.. that boy sure knows how to kick some serious ass.. :)

I do not see how that list is accurate. Danny Pop ran the autocross, but his car broke on the first timed lap of the road course so he posted a DNF. I do not believe that he ever ran the speed stop.

I guess he got enough points in the autocross and Design parts to make the list.. or they took he warm up lap time for the road course?
Not sure until I see all the various bits.
Lancer Evo and Nissan GT-R finishing 3 & T5..........with an all-wheel drive advantage. Say's a lot for the performance level of the old Chevy muscle cars and Bret's '33.

Just heard that they did use the time from Popp's warm up lap.. I thought that if you didn't complete the whole segment you got a DNF for that part of the competition?
In any event, that's why he still made it into the 7th slot.

Honestly, congrats to Steilow for the win like others have said. But I'm extremely impressed with Brian's 2nd overall finish and road course win as he is down quite a bit on power from Steilow. And also VERY impressed with your 6th place finish Steve. That is huge, I would be very proud of yourself!!

And they are both killer drivers.. the Lancer guy does the big-time SCCA autocross stuff and I heard the GT-R owner is a driving instructor in Canada.
In the top 10 for the speed-stop there were only three non-ABS cars.. one was Bret's kit-car roadster.. the other two were Brians car (8th) and my Camaro (9th).
There's something to be said for launch control, AWD, and ABS :)

Really guys? I want to say a few things ... I hit oil that one of the cars dropped on the track, lost grip and almost saved it!
As for not keeping up with Mark on the straight ... Marks car is super fast! But I was only suppose to only do one lap so I let out, but decided at the last minute to do one more for the simple fact that I love to chase fast drivers! They make me better. All in all ... people gonna hate on the girl. Boo. But to say one thing ... that was my FIRST time out there! not too bad. Just sayin.
Congrats Mark ... you were killing it out there! Good times.

I don't think anyone was intending to be negative. Maybe throwing out the old "You got beat by a girl" kind of joke but just in the name of fun. You are one heck of a driver and you proved it every lap.
My wife wants to take a few lessons, perhaps when that time comes you can offer some advice and direction. I'll need a few to. It's nice to see you here on LG and I hope you'll post regularly. We could benefit a lot from a professional like yourself.

You just have to understand that Mark is "our boy" --- and if there was ever a time NOT to go in the dirt - it was chasing him..... 'cause we are all rooting for him to "kill" the smokin' fast 'Vette.

AND...AND...AND, she was mere feet off the bumper of cars [and drivers] of unknown ability. I can't do that. I just..can't! At the speeds we were going, if someone brakes a micropube early...she would have punted them off the track! Someone needs to make her a carbon fiber jockstrap.
As far as being distracting in my mirror....not much to be seen out the back of a 33 Ford. I typically have to spin the car to see what was behind me. :)

HAHA!
To corroborate SCEMO's explanation, she was in fact 1.5 to 2 car widths inside Stielow entering T1. At the time, it looked like she moved off-line for a reason, like a better camera shot or something...and then the car looked all funky as soon as she turned in on the tighter radius.
For the rest of the day we were calling it a beige ZR1. :P
That car and SCEMO were seriously hauling, lap after lap all day long.

Steph, great job chasing all day. You are bad ass!
I sure hope you got some video of Marks car at the end of the back straight away as it way shooting big flames out the exhaust.
There was a whole group of us watching the speed stop event when Mark was running and we were all distracted each time Mark flew by with flames coming out as he braked hard for the next turn.
I sure cant wait to see the broadcast and any spy videos.

HAHA!
To corroborate SCEMO's explanation, she was in fact 1.5 to 2 car widths inside Stielow entering T1. At the time, it looked like she moved off-line for a reason, like a better camera shot or something...and then the car looked all funky as soon as she turned in on the tighter radius.
You are exactly correct! I was trying to get a side shot in the corner that ended with me picking up oil from someone that was offline. All good ... I did my best out there to get some good footage of everyone ... fast and slow.
Thanks guys for all the props. I had a great time. It was worth the cracked windshield ... Mr. Popp! lol It did scare the living hell out of me tho.

Those flames were INSANE!!! Caught me off guard on the first ... I was like "OH ****!" lol
Does anyone know when the show will run and on what network?
