Hey Guys -- I am running a harrop TVS2300 and need to replace a seal (leaking after less than 200 miles!) unfourtunatley no one here locally is able to get the pulley off with a puller, apparently it needs a hydrolic puller of some sort (harrop did send me a pic of the tool) I have no desire to ship this thing to Australia for $375 each way! Thanks in advance for your help!

Raj a picture would help of the pulley and what the puller looks like?? I know some guys out here in the Midwest that might have something that would work, but you would have to ship it over here.

Raj - given it's Harrop this may not help, but The Blower Shop is very clsoe to me and I know these guys. They are top of the market IMHO and work on all brands. They did one hellofa job on my Littlefield. I can call them if you want? Also in Central Cali is Whipple which is worth a shot.
I'd be shocked if Harrop has designed something so revolutionary only they can fix it (but you learn something everyday)...???
Call me and let me know how I can help!

Harrop uses Eaton superchargers just like Magnacharger does. I'm assuming you're talking about the drive pulley since it has an oil filled bearing pack right there with it? If so, then yes, you can get this fixed in the US. I'm betting the Blower Shop guys can fix it no problem. It really shouldn't be anything special beyond having a puller that physically fits in the area.
I'd also be willing to bet a local GM dealer has the tool since many 3.8 V6's came with Eaton blowers on them.

http://www.billetflow.com/Pulley_Puller.htm check out this tool, I was a snap on tool dealer for a few years, do you have any friends that have a snap on puller set? There may be similar pieces in that set. good luck

I went to a "performance shop" locally here and their pulley tool did not do the trick it started to flex and also spoke to the GM dealerships in town and they don't have anything either. I am hoping the blower shop can help or I might order the pulley tool that travis has suggested.

Thanks Travis -- I might just order this and give it a try.

Looks like a pretty simple attachment for a porta-pak style set up..
you MAY be able to get one made at a local machine shop, I've had to do this in the past but not for a blower but to yank a pressed bearing off a 10ft shaft, and it works rather well.

How do you get it back on without supporting the shaft on the backside ? Are you sure you don't have to remove the front housing ?

Man, I'm surprised the GM dealer didn't have anything that would work. That press shouldn't be so tight that it needs a hydraulic puller.

When I spoke to the guys at Harrop they said I wouldn't have to remove the front housing to get it back on -- I am hoping that's the case!

I tried another dealer in town and they said to bring it by on Tuesday as they may have the tool to do it but wouldn't be able to tell me for sure until they see it.

The parent company to Magnacharger is Magnuson Products or something like that. Anyway, they are an authorized Eaton remanufacturer as well and are based in Cali. They should be able to help possibly.

Well gents looks like I have to send it back to Harrop in Australia! I wonder if a seat on a plane is cheaper than what it is costing to ship back and forth!
Thanks for all the suggestions in the thread I have contacted all of them and more and no one is able to or can say for sure that they will be able to work on this thing so off it goes to Harrop. Hopefully its not snowing here by the time I get it back...

Just have a machinist make you a puller. It's a very simple tool especially the design they are using. A small hand jack to operate the press/pull unless you want to do it exactly the way they did. Would be a real pain to send it off and then have the same problem again, this way you could just do it yourself next time.

Thanks -- when I spoke to The guys at harrop they said even if I get it off I may have trouble getting it back on because they machine press them on, would you think that would be a problem or would a pulley tool be able to get it back on?
Thanks again for helping everyone!:lateral:

You wouldn't be able to use the puller to put it back on. I would think if you stand it up on end and support it properly you could just press it back in with a press, no?

Didn't you have the engine built at Wegner Automotive? I had Casey to build the front pulley setup. So he might have the tool you need.
Another person is to contact Kurt Urban. http://www.kurturbanperformance.com/

Here is a photos of my Harrop as it was sitting at my engine builder in 2009. I have the rear cog pulley as same as Raj, but as you can see in the photos the cog is not installed yet. Harrop devoloped the Cog drive for me, back in 2008. Photos are too big to post, but that is the links. I probably recommend send it back to Harrop, if the pulley wouldn't come out. There has to be reasons that it is not coming off, but only the manufacturer can give you the best service.

I just spoke to Brian, he mentioned he had texted you by mistake thinking it was my number -- I am in Vancouver Canada.
Brian called Harrop directly and told them about the problem I was having and they are going to contact me to get this fixed closer to home (probably somewhere in California)
But I do have to thank Charlie! Brian mentioned you put in a call to him to help me out, greatly appreciate that! and Brian has been outstanding!
Sparks on a side note when I spoke to Harrop regarding the leaky seal they said they were aware of such problem and have since changed the seal that goes in the back -- from a non-directional to a directional to prevent future leaks. Harrop’s rep mentioned that if the blower sat around for awhile the old seal has a tendency to leak.
Thanks again for the help!! :lateral:

Well, mine has been sitting around that is for sure, so I am sure it will leak. I am very close to Detroit, that is if Brian can do it. I have been considering changes as well. :willy:

Brian Thompson is one of the really good guys in the Industry. Kurt Urban is another. When you watch Stielow's latest few cars hauling ass they are doing it with Brian's engines.

My blower is fixed!
Brian has to be one of the nicest guys I have dealt with; he just got back from SEMA and called me to let me know he will be sending my blower back to me today!
Long story short Brian is the man! He contacted Harrop directly to get this sorted out; Harrop had to send him their "special tool" to do the repair as nothing was getting that hub off. To top it off Brian didn't charge me for his time as he wants to stand behind the Harrop product and even offered to pay for the shipping back to me! Its nice knowing their are people / businesses like Brian and TA Engines out there.
