View Full Version : Need An Electrical Guru!!!
I'm look for a switch that will activate 12 VOLTS dc for about 60 seconds then shut off. Here is my problem I have a Chrysler Sebring Convert. The seat belts are electric when you apply power the belts retract in and out ,when you shut the power off they lock. The belts are made to do this because seat belts are seat mounted. So I have to duplicate this function with some sort of timer. When I get in the car I need to activate the retractor so I can put the seat belt on . Then It needs to shut down the 12 volts to lock the belts. Any thoughts:question:

You just need a timer circuit

Those two are from a quick search on bing. You might be able to find something better but the idea is the same. I doubt a momentary switch will last to 60 seconds which is why I suggest a timer. You may not need 60 second though. If you tie it into the run position on the ignition switch, then you could possibly go with a 10-15 second switch or timer. You'd need to have your seat belt on before starting the car. The timer would start once the car has started and the key has returned to the run position.

Check out the DEI 611T. I'm using one to time the activation of my keyless ignition on my 69. When activated, it can switch on (or off) for 1-100 seconds (set via timer adjustment knob). You can get these on ebay for under $20. It's a very easy to install (5 wires; Ground, activation, +12, and 2 Outputs). Let me know if you want a copy of the installation manual. ---Eric

Try this, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0002J22BO/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=1077068&s=car
You will have to run it through a relay. These things work great.
