I have had several ask that I start a thread on this car that I just got from Cdushane. I am sure most of you have seen it around in the classified ads as well as other places since Ironworks did a lot of fabrication work on the car when someone else had it. So, the car has been in the works for several yrs now and has had multiple owners and with each was put on the backburner to be completed later. With that said, I named this "project mulligan" since the car has been given yet another opportunity/redo for completion. I was lucky enough to be able to pick up such a good car with a lot of the hard work already completed. The car is in really good shape since it spent most of its life in california and retains all the original body panels with the exception of the tailpan and it does have some of the original azure turqouise paint in the jams and under the decklid. The fabrication to the car that Ironworks has done is absolutely top notch work!! Now to just rehash some of the custom work done to the car to this point. The bumpers have already been shortened/tucked in by 2" on each side front/rear, custom 3.5" exhaust built for the car that exits through the tailpan and has the rear floor pans raised for muffler clearance, minitubs installed, DSE frame connectors, DSE speed kit 3 subframe, Chris Alston coilover rear setup, rollcage with halo bar that goes through the dash into an X and then motor bars that tie into that. The trunk has the X as well between the tubs. Custom dash in the car to be made to look like the cowl induction goes straight through from the hood to the dash. The cowl panel was never completed on the car, it still had a lot of fab work to be done. I actually cut out what was there (tack welded in) and was considering just going with a carbon fiber cowl panel. After cleaning the car out I discovered there was another cowl pan that had been somewhat modified in the same way as what was tack welded in. I tried it on the car and found it was much closer to completion, so I started working with it to get to the point its at now, which really fits nice. I am really excited about this car and the component/wish list that I have planned out for it. I plan on having the car completed in the next few months. See what you guys think.

Parts list I have for the car so far includes:

-Wilwood 6piston brakes with hydraboost
-LS motor/trans setup from Daytonayellaz that should be here in the next couple weeks as he is doing some work on it for me
-Kenne Bell 2.9 blower setup
-Gen IV Vintage Air
-HRE Wheels (sending center out to be powdercoated)
-Moser 12 bolt 410 gear
-Cant decide on front subframe yet, may leave as Detroit speed kit 3 or change to a C6 style setup, so may have that for sale
-Recarro seats and custom leather interior
-Touchscreen DVD/Nav and built in radar detector setup

What are you going to do with paint? Two-tone, racing stripes, bumble bee stripe, hockey stripe, solid color?:D

Still undecided, its either going to be black or silver and I do think that I will do some sort of stripes, just unsure at this point. Cage is already painted black, just need to get some pics of it...

Thanks,

I think that once the dash is completed it will look really good, I do have reservations about it, but once you add 5" guages, Billet AC vents, touchgreen 7"DVD/Navigation screen and switches for everything labeled, I believe it will look good. If not, I will just take it out.... Haha

So what off that list is going to be in the POD? Any thoughts of a big speedo like a GT angled towards the driver?

Do you have a picture from the inside with the hood on? That would probably make the vision clearer.

I have not got that far yet. I want to get the seats and column mounted in it first and then make the decision on what guages to use. Possibly a racepak or the stewart warner maximum performance guages in a 5". Not sure. What is the GT you are talking about???

I like how the cowl is carried all the way to the wind shield but the hood itself ends before then. That's cool. Do you intend to keep it that way? Great project name. That'll make for interesting conversation at shows and such.

I do plan on keeping it that way. I have actually been working on it quite a bit, just havent loaded pics! The concept that Ironworks started was really cool, they had just not finished it when I got the car. I cut it out and started over, and I think its going to work well. I plan on mounting some guages in the cowl panel that you will only be able to see when the hood is open as well since its raised up there is room to do so...

Ok,

I sort of agree with you somewhat. I love black and silver on a firstgen like everyone else, but I have built numerous of each color and I have been thinking of going with something else especially since Stielow's 67 was revealed as silver. Love his car and think its awesome, but I want something different since it will be hard to top that silver on his anyway! Haha. I am going to spray out some samples in the next couple weeks of some different colors... I will keep you guys posted, hopefully once I get back from vacation in a week or so I will have time to get some updated pics!

That dash idea from the cowl hood is very different, but it actually could work very well. I do like how the vent panel is 'molded' to meet the hood too
As for color, ...I don't know why but I'm visualizing that car in a nice vintage gold, with black striping of some sort.

Keep us posted, going to be a cool car when finished

I actually really like gold, but I am also a fan of the 69 camaro Frost Green. I am not sure what it will end up at this point, I am going to spray some Green, Gold, Blue, and Silver and see which I like the best up agains the car...

Been working on the 67 off and on. Doesnt look like I have gotten much done on it, but I feel like I have accomplished a lot. Got the cowl sealed off and the cowl panel finished up to where it fits good. Cut the dash loose and made some tabs for it, so its now removeable. I can take the entire dash loose with 6 bolts. Blocked the car a couple of times already, its ready for a couple more then paint. Still working on the dash as to how I am going to mount my guages. I have all the holes that are not needed welded up and smoothed along with the firewall being smoothed now. Here are a few pics...

Glad your keeping the hood idea going. I think putting the gauges out there would look great.

As for color, I really like many of the original colors on cars from the 60's and 70's. Building a great pt type car with all the modern bells and whistles but keeping a factory color, or even a factory color with a minor twist, is a great idea to me. Look at Jackass. I love that color. Just an idea. I'm sure it'll look great no matter what color you choose though.
