Time to get started - Motor mounts and oil pan

Ok I got the motor out of the G8 this morning and I am ready to start ordering parts. I have a couple questions first - Are ther any motor mounts that will allow you to use the stock A/C compressor and not notch the frame? Also, what is a good oil pan? I might convert over to rack and pinion so Need plenty of clearance.

Oh yeah, It is going into a 67 Camaro, stock frame, tubular a-arms and coil overs.

Not that I'm aware of, but you might want to check out http://www.dirtydingo.com/

They have adjustable motor mounts, but doubt it will clear the frame. You might have to go with something I did, which is to get a kwik performance AC bracket and pump. It's inexpensive and works well.

If you are planning on doing that later, just go ahead and get a AutoKraft pan or even the Mast road race pan. They are $400-600 depending on which model, but they will fit cars with a rack in them.

Holley is located here where i live and they have some nice looking ls stuff, especially their oil pan and they have a interesting a/c mount that looks like the mirror image of the corvette alt. bracket. its made from the same material and looks exactly the same. It can use either the harrison pancake compressor or the sanden sd508(ibeleive), you have to specify which one. but it looks pretty good and i think a little better than the kwik, just because it matches.

Speaking of oil pans, the existing oil pan with my LS6 engine is Milodon with remote oil filter. I am thinking of getting the Autokraft oil pan, so my question is this; can I replace the oil pan while the engine is in or I need to take the engine out in order to replace the oil pan?

I would first mock up the engine in place then choose the pan. I have an LSA in my 69 Camaro, due to the supercharger set up the motor has to sit a slow as it will go, modifying a pan is not worth the time, they always leak! I went to the MAST pan. Low profile and has excellent clearance for most frame situations. The thing you need to watch is where the motor is going to sit and this will determine which pan you need. The Holly pan and even the GM replacement pan (very reasonable priced) is also a good choice but did not work for my application. If you go with the Mildon pan you need to have a remote filter which is more work and plumbing. The MAST pan you have the option of remote or a standard filter. Place the engine first then see what you need. Do the research first before you buy!
