I've only personally met one guy who was into the pro touring scene, and that's Aaron the R&D guy from Hotchkis that drives the 70 Challenger test car. I happen to meet him this past Good Guys Show in Pleasanton. By any chance is there anybody else on this forum whose Asian or Asian-American that's into classic pro touring cars? I feel like I'm the only Asian American redneck that's into Harleys and classic muscle cars.

what are those little tits sticking out of the 1/4 panel over the rear tire?
I'm guessing those are related to the fender flares Amir was/is working on?
Amir?

Somehow I'm now tempted to pick up to the phone and call Ironworks. I'm curious whether I'm going to get "L"odger Lee from China, or "Raj" from India.
For what it's worth, I'm half asian. I'm sure that info will help one of you guys out with a joke next time I make a comment out having been to Bondurant a couple times

I'm Vietnamese with a 72 Camaro. I also have an old Harley ironhead frame that I am going to build into an old school bobber. I'm also planning to acquire a 69 Camaro as a daily driver. Its odd because my gf is white and she hates the fact that I like these "redneck" machines :) My current running stable is a 350z, Honda pilot, 07 Yamaha r6 and a 06 Honda cbr1000rr.

This TV 'Superman', aka Dean Cain, was born Dean George Tanaka.

I think with a little nudge he would see the wisdom of owning a PT car. The guy is obviously into speed and handling.

For those that don't know, that dude is a stud. At one time - possibly still does - he owned the NCAAA single season record for picks. Defensive back playing back east. I played against him in many a tournament...almost unstoppable. I would almost bet he's got a car or two in his stable....

Larry,
I just saw your post...I'm Japanese and I'm into Pro Touring and Old School Muscle. I live a few miles inland from Monterey. I drive a Stielow built 69 Camaro called Tri Tip that made it's first debut back in '93. I hope color or Ethnicity doesnt hold you back....I've met some really cool people from all walks of life through this hobby.
I hope to run into you soon.

I dont know how to post pictures, that's where it usually stops for me. I get the most out of learning from the cars on the site. I live really close to Dave and Mary Pozzi and they are a wealth of knowledge and help if and when I get stuck on something. My car is a Dinosaur compared to what's being built these days...DSE actually went through the car while they were still in Michigan. We resisted the temptation of changing too much from Mark's original build. It has to be one of the first Pro Touring cars ever built and it still makes me smile everytime I take it out to stretch it's legs.
I need to make more time to drive it

White 69 Camaro that competed or participated in One Lap of America. Beyond that, I really no nothing about Tri-Tip.
Jeff, I'm sure someone will post the pictures for you if you're having trouble with it. I'd offer but my work schedule is crazy and it would take me a few days to get them up. By then, I'm sure I'd have people up in arms ready to string me up on the nearest tree for taking so long.

post current pis of your stielow camaro pls...
i followed his first two builds on his first two cars....i saved the articles on those two builds for years until i was ready to step up and build a pro touring car...would love to see your ride, rm
some original pictures of Tri Tip were posted by Scott on Mark's bio...the bottom 5 pix on the right
http://www.lateral-g.net/bio/stielow/
it was also #44 in this issue of Hot Rod. it's a long forgotten plain Jane 69. I think the only guy that knew what it was is Dave Pozzi when he did a double take on it at a Cherries Jubilee car show they had at Laguna Seca about 10 years ago.

Welcome aboard, Jeff.
Tri-Tip is the real deal and a really fun car. I met Jeff at a local evening car show and followed him to the show in my Camaro. We didn't know each other and when we parked, I got out and went over to the white Camaro and said "That's Tri-Tip!!" I think Jeff was amazed that anyone knew about the car and the history. We talked for a while and what I like best is that Jeff hasn't strayed much from the original concept and build of that car. And it's definitely Pro-Touring all the way ...
I've done everything short of water boarding trying to get him out autocrossing and will continue to persevere ...
