Hi, I finally got my hands on a 69, and would like to talk to others who started an upgrade--the car has drum brakes all around--an auto trans, and a plain jane 350. I'd like to put disc brakes all around, rack & pinion steering, AC, and a fuel injected LS with a 5 or 6 speed trans. What are your feelings out there on what should be done first??

You just bought the most often modified muscle car in existence.
to get an answer to your question be more specific.
Start with what you want the car to do. Street, street and some track, track and some street, track only?
Then budget.
You can do pretty much anything you want with that car from cruise it and look good to compete for the OUSCI depending on your budget and goals.

That is very good advise. Once you have a better idea of how you want to use the car, put together a build sheet and list out all the parts you thinking you need. Start at the ground and work your way up. IE: Tires, Wheels, Brakes, etc.
Don't get to sucked in by all the crazy over the top builds here. Spend your money where it counts, then get out there and enjoy it!

Thanks--I want to put upgrades on the car for street use--I'd like a car that drives like today's cars do with R&P steering, good brakes, but with the lowered stance of a touring car--If I want to eventually upgrade the engine, does it make sense to do the suspension first--lowered in front and rear with disc brakes? then tackle the engine with the AC issue later?

Man there are so many options and honestly it really can get crazy. What's your budget like? Are you willing to spend 40k on parts or are you hoping to stay around 10k?

Plan your build been working on 69 camaro for 4 years off and on figure out what horsepower you want then you build rear,trans clutch accordingly. I have 35g in ours and it isn't painted yet. Do youdo bodywork? Motor 3500 to 10g trans 5 to 6 for 6spd ac1200 brakes? Rear end, if you can do a lot of the work you might get your money back. If you can't you could spend 75 to 100g good luck!

Gives us a better idea on what you want to do with the car, your mechanical abilities, and your budget.
Im doing a '69 Chevelle bit by bit. I think I have a pretty good idea on what youre asking here but we all just want to be sure.
Also, post some pics. The experts eyes might see something you havent.
