Hey all, have a 70 camaro ss/rs with the stock 12 bolt posi that a previous owner converted to a 3:73 from the stock 3:08. I also converted the car to Baer 4w discs sport/trac set up. The rear end is singin a little from not being set up properly, rear end shop "said shes fine for cruisin but dont beat on her", well, you know, I have very heavy feet (both)....

Current ZZ3 350 with 340 horsies, turbo 350 tranny.
Have a t56 going in sometime later this year and will be going LS power after that hoping for 500ish hp.

Plan to track it a couple times a year and a few autocross events as well. I will be driving it a few times a weeks as well (not for fuel mileage lol)

So, rebuild the stock for $900 ish by a reputable shop here in town
Shop here in town $3k ish for a 9" conversion, he'll build the rear, and install it, I would just have to buy and install the brackets from Baer for the brakes.
Or go with a Moser for 2100 ish plus shipping and install it myself

I would rather do it myself and know the rear end, but my shoulder just had major surgery and pretty much cant touch any tools for about a year (also postponing my 6spd conversion).

Is my rear end worth much being a 12 bolt? cause that will offset the cost...

I'd rebuild your 12 bolt. Just drive it for now- will you be able to drive it that hard if you cant use tools for a year? If you can do it yourself- just wait to your healthy. 12 bolt is plenty strong enough & you'll save a ton freshing it yourself. My brand new moser was set up poorly & whined so badly I couldnt stand to drive it. Ended up putting new gears in it. Just my opinion. Scott
