I just gave my credit card number and ordered up a little fun. :unibrow:

Saw this gizmo at SEMA and thought it was super cool. I have since found out after talking with the guys that it does a TON of stuff besides the basic track info and data loging.

Here is what I bought:
http://www.g2xtreme.com/

So what is it? well, it's a GPS linked track performance and data aquisition system. You can get lots of performance data on how your car is doing (ie, how your driving). It also has sensors to measure lateral g's and all that fun stuff. You can then download this to your laptop to see what was happening while you were hanging on for dear life.

You can see the Dash section here.

What's cool is that you can run this as your speedo and tack if you want and they have add on gauges that monitor oil pressure, water temp and all that. These guages work with the main unit so you get the gauge info PLUS it datalogs all the readings. Sorta like the Nexus system but a lot cheaper and it does a lot more stuff (although it's not as pretty to look at)

I won't be running thier gauges since I already have a full complement of Autometer stuff but it's a nice option. What would be cool would be if you mounted the main dash where your speed/tack goes and they used thier gauges for the other vitals.

Anyways, pretty excited since I love the tech. Once I get the sytem I will give you a review and so stuff one I hit the track..

Oh, here are the gauges:

I guess they make bigger systems (big bucks) for NASCAR and other racing groups..

Now that is some tricky $#!^, can't wait for your review. Where are you going to mount the dash part of that system? Glove box or center part of your dash?

Yea, it's a cool product and the more I read about it the more features I find it has..

I am mounting in the center area of my dash and I am hard wiring it in. One nice thing is that (if you want) the system can be moved from car to car easily.

Would be cool to mount the dash in the center (like in a non-drilled Covans or DSE unit) and then use some of thier supplemental gauges that support the data tracking. I already have a ton of Autometer gauges so I didn't go that route.

I balk at buying a new $40 shirt but I have no problem dropping hundreds of dollars on some car part.. I am sick..

Is there a rheostat for the LED numerical readout?

I prefer the look and features of a similar unit from STACK, but they want $1500 for their version.

Not sure, BUT.. they are very helpful on the phone.. I'm sure if you called them up they would tell ya.

Also, they are in OC True.. so you could even stop by and check it out.

This unit by far had the most features for the money. The fact that you could expand the datalogging capabilities by adding thier gauges was a big time plus.
