I'm reaching out to the experts. I have a 1968 Camaro with manual discs and and AGR quick ratio steering box. My motor is an 408 1 GEN block with Edelbrock Aluminum heads and I pulled the Muncie and am sticking in my new TKO600. I recently bought some Headman Elite shory headers and come to find out there is no room for the Z-Bar for the manul clutch. I don't want to buy any outragous headers since I want to bash it on the roads and tracks but any suggestions on PART#'s that will work. I know the 400 SBC's like smaller primaries but at this point I'll take a painted set. I', looking for the thicker flanges and the thickest gauge tubes I can track down to keep the leaks down. Not sure if shorties are better for ground clearance but I know most of you have moved on to the LS family so maybe you have a set that worked for you. I don't want to ding the headers just slip in some without modifiying them. HELP!!

I have Doug Thorley Tri Y's on my 68 and Tremec 5-speed and plenty of room. I have 400 small block, stock power steering box.

Thank you two for the suggestions. I know Doug's are quality pieces but they come with a price. I know there are so many options and variances and I'm in the spot where I ordered some Hedman Elite ceramic shorties and it was 2 years ago and now that I realize they won't fit a manual I'm stuck figuring do I use them on my Nova or sell them and try to salvage some money.

Dynatech headers are extremely well built and dirt cheap compared to equivalent brands. I paid $400 for mine to fit my SBC. That's for the ceramic coated one's.
