Keep in mind I have a Sonoma..

I've been toying with the idea of ducting a bed mounted rad to move some weight around in my truck.. and the Sonoma's have horrible front apertures and trying to duct the rad is going to be a bit of a PITA.. also a lack of space.

I really like how Shaun Palmer pulled his pikes peak SY off..

Lingenfelter did it also with their AWD sonoma, Only problem with this... my fuel cell, dry sump, take up that real-estate and my exhaust exits out the side of the bed right under all that stuff.

Im just wondering does any body have any insight or experience with a rear mounted rad.

Thank's
Matt

I'm guessing a key point is the flat panel on top of the radiator and it's slightly elevated front portion.

My only thought is the big flat spot of the bed is an area of detached air flow and you might not get as much flow into the radiator as you would think. Either the small scoop effect of the top at the back of his bed or a small spoiler might create the high pressure area you want. Maybe some real aero guys would know.

For me, it would be a packaging deal vs. weight.

Matt, I looked into this quite a bit for my truck and decided against it. FETorino touches on a great point about the aero involved. The biggest thing for me was losing the use of the bed almost entirely. The next was the added need of a spoiler now that the tailgate was creating less down-force.

The hpt syclone also utilizes a similar design. A sheet metal wave helps to eliminate the cushion effect as air comes over the cab and guides it into the lower pressure zone behind the rad. The tailgate is then louvered to duct the air away.

If you set the engine back, lighten up the front end and reposition the fuel tank you'll be in a position where moving the rad isn't going to be that much more of a benefit imo.

I have enough room upfront for the rad its just "tight"....

just thinking about trying something new, but the more I read into it.. its not really worth it.... I'll just do my best to duct the front side of the rad.

im still belly panning my truck though :D I need all the help with down force I can get!

Thank's for the insight guys!
