Good luck to anyone looking at FB, according to my online account 25% of the shares I requested will be purchased on Open. Pretty cool to be able to get in on an IPO as a retail customer.
Anyway hopefully this turns into a windfall for some of us here. Missing out on Google is one of my big regrets.

Good to hear!
I'll post up as soon as I know what I received. Will be interesting to see if the demand is just a bunch of "flippers" or will it be buy and hold (thus a rising price). My guess is BOTH... and if there's not a big pop -- then some of the air will come rushing out.

That's awesome you guys got an allocation. I received notice from my broker that I got a whopping 0 of the 2000 shares I requested. Oh well, the opening will be fun to watch!

It acted as I suspected -- a giant ho hum. I did buy an additional 600 shares for a total of 1000. That will be my total - and I plan to hold them and just see if in the next two or three years they go anywhere.

Not looking so good after the first full day, down almost 11% :willy:
$34.03 close, $33.78 in after hours. Investors don't appear to feel the love like the users do. The next few days/weeks will be interesting.
Facebook to me lacks substance, many users appear to be looking for attention and/or instant gratification.
In the past 2.5 years I've tried marketing two businesses one being floor covering the other KTM motorcycles, granted I haven't bought advertising at a level they'd like but I have bought a targeted demographic within a 40 mile radius for the flooring business and can say I haven't seen one consumer dollar because of it. The KTM side due to the recreational nature has generated more interest and probably a couple accessory sales. Not enough to justify budgeting monthly advertising dollars.........IMO.

Hey, I produced hair bands in the eighties..
Those were some of the best times...Girls in Lingerie, and Fun, Fun, Fun...
I have memories to last a life time, and I am still spending the cash I made..
Missed the big time, but I had a great time, and Invested the Money...
I had long hair but refused to wear make up...I left that to the band members
The Producer/Engineer/Roadies never hit the stage..

Hoepfully the hit and drop was after Zuckerman marriage to Priscilla sign of things to come.
Funny how news are kicking things... Zuckerman fortune dropped 2.1 billion dollars in a few days, etc.... Facebook experiencing a recent drop on number of registered users? Etc.
DISCLAIMER: Do not want to rain on anyone's parade and hopefully things bounce back. At the same time just surprised how many people jumped in based on pure hype. FB has been traded on secondary market by the big boys and public IPO value was in the $28-32 range, so interesting a lot of small investors jumped in and did not mind paying a premium.
From a market value vs value proposition perspective will be interesting to see how FB rates. Some basic things to think about is that a wide array of FB users are utilizing mobile to access FB, rather than a laptop (or similar port). FB has not yet figured out how to "sell" their value proposition on mobiles. My money is on a 17 year old that will capitalize with a bigger value proposition soon, that will oust FB.

ALL I know is I am long on Facebook and expect the price to drop even more as insiders begin to be able to sell. will be buying for the next 6 months.
If I can keep the average down its a win win. I dot see the company or the stock disappearing.

Surely the value of facebook is the deep insights into people's lives that can then be leveraged for new product development
A billion strong user research community all participating for free.

So guys steals an idea from two smarter guys, then moves it into the monster we call Facebook.. and were surprised he had some under the table deals to fleece the retail customer.... %^&* him..... Now keeping to my word this was a gamble and one I took with discretionary funds.... But man this just smells like some shady dealing relative to the mobile disclosures to the Big finical houses that didn't seem to make it to the the SEC or the public....

This article has some interesting points in it.... and is the reason that I said I would not buy FB on the retail market. I did buy some on the IPO @ 38 and promptly sold it at a small loss once it was clear that the IPO was an epic fail...
