Found a box of pics I took from a race in the 90's at Tustin Airforce base

I loved the 2 huge blimp hangers They were amazing! You really had to stand at one end looking through to really appreciate just how BIG they were.. Yup these 2 are crooked like my brain

It was a Chevelle he did that to. The Camaro he raced in the Tran Am series. Don't think they ever raced Camaros in NASCAR.. Except for Flash68 :willy: :rofl:

i thought smokey built a smaller camaro for nascar that had less drag cuz the car was scaled down...you sure it was a chevellethat camaro had some pretty cool/sneaky stuff done to it too.
but yeah that was used in the TA series.

Tustin Thunder wasn't that what they called it.
A guy from Texas had a semi full of vintage Fords including a real GT40 in green and gold that he ran hard. I remember him coming into the pits with tire doughnuts.
I remember a really sweet first gen Firebird running pretty good out there also.

tell where they widen the rear quarters on the back of the dark blue 69. Look at the distance from the tail lights to the outside edge

Smokey was a genius. I believe he made an 83 Fiero get over 50mpg by running the engine extremely hot almost to the threshold of engine failure. Don't know how long it lasted before it grenaded...if it did. He also helped Goodyear design special tires that would go for over 70,000 miles without treadwear. Need to order his book.
