This is a video of the Fab53 Camaro running on the big track at the RTTC3 event. It's the 2nd day during the timed rotations in group run 3. The first lap is a warm up, then the 2nd lap is a +-1:47.8, 3rd lap is a +-1:46.9 run and the forth lap was the cool down.
I was told that I was running low 147's on the big track, so I checked out the GoPro times.... and sure enough. Wow, pretty cool.
I had a great time at this event.

Brett, the car looks to be a cream puff to drive and with the top down. The winning time was 1:38 or 1:39?

Are you saying Im a knuckle head and may have my times way off. Lol:willy:
I thought I did better than that. A 10 sec gap is a big spread when the Speed Tech Nova went in front of me, and the Newmans 55 went behind me. We stayed about the same distance on the track during our 4 lap session.
Dude you busted my bubble. I must have something wrong.

Nice runs Brett -- that's not far behind the big guns on such a big track. And yeah that thing looks smooth. Now throw a 100 more hp in there... :unibrow:
Good seein you and Jeffrey this weekend... he's a great kid.

Don't trust my memory after last nights mind eraser. :unibrow: I know Jay was top 5 so if you kept pace with him, you were doing good. I was in the same run group and was catching Newman but I'm pretty sure Jay was catching me.

Yeah, Tucker and Maier were in the 1:38's I'm pretty sure I remember...

Ok I feel better now.... I was just starting to get my anti-depressants out. I will put them away.

Ok, my bubble is still busted. Bummer. I wonder what my real times were then....
I wish we would could see the times during the event and not wait for the sorting process.
Ill just put it this way. I felt fast. :captain:

Ha, you bastage! Can I have a large side of blow-by with my order of SBC?
With your mere 400 hp that makes whatever you ran pretty impressive dude. Very smooth driving too. Your suspension works.

Brett - I got a first hand view of those laps right before lunch. Jay was not catching you that I saw!
Earlier in the morning the timer said you had second fastest on the drag/slalom as well.
It's fun to watch you run Bro. You get the 'spirit of the event' award in my book...

Wow, so cool Ron. That's what I heard also about the Slalom event... something like a 21.4? But you know based on the above if I post it, then it will be wrong.:wow:
Im guessing, Vegas and I will get pushed down on the list due to our outlaw tires. I also noticed, that after I knocked down that run, the slalom was supposedly closed for our group 3 rotation..... But I noticed that a few of the big dogs got to stay over there for several more runs as most of our group waited at the big track. Lucky treatment. (not really complaining.... just poking fun at the fast dudes as Im very excited that Im even getting close to there times).

Jon, you make me nervous. After we did the lowering on that "Rat Rod Nova", you started knocking down some serious fast times (good driving and maybe some good fab53 mods) that looks like you may be able to beat me. I know this was the slight joking comment made when we were working on the car.... but it's probably going to happen.:hail:

Brett,
You may need to check in with Yancy directly. I didn't stick around for the "awards" but I agree with you embodying the spirit of the event since the reason you missed Saturday's driving meeting was that you were at home cramming to get Tom's torque arm repaired so that he could not only drive home all the way back to Arizona but he could continue to compete on Saturday!!!
Anyhow, I got distracted, since you missed the drivers meeting you missed the announcement that they will not be posting times for anyone not on "legal" tires. Hopefully, Yancy or someone still has the times so you can get a hold of them.

Yep, I talked to the BFG reps at the autocross on Sat. They are in bed with American Street Car Series, and they are planning on pushing their tire as much as possible, even it means having paying event drivers come out for fun and not getting timed. Anybody else notice that they hold timing close to there vest during the events. I guess if i keep enjoying these "outlaw" tires I will not be coming to anymore of the RTT events. To bad so much has changed from last years tone that "this is not a race, its an event for everyone to come out and enjoy driving". Funny how the banners still say "Get out and drive" this year when it's really about gaining market share for BFG tires. Im in with BFG if I can get a pair of those "special" sticky KDW tires that were on Brian F's car. As a matter of fact, I will pay $2,000.00 to test those exact same tires that were on his "Best" lap times of the event runs publicized at the awards.
Not sure Im believing all the BS I saw out there this year. Its funny I have some great video from my GoPro of the DSE spraying "water", or what ever on their tires before autox and big track, I have funny commentary between timers and another big dog driver getting extra timed runs after timed rotationg was closed because they were working on their car.
Good stuff, but I still love being out there. Great people, great cars, fast drivers.... and of course typicall old school racing trickery.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I just hope I can keep running the tires that my car set up likes and at least know how I'm doing. Not so much worried about the awards.

As far as the "water" being sprayed on the tires, it really was just water. When the tires get too hot, they don't work. We cooled down our 300 TW Michelins with water due to overheating. This is very common in autocrossing.
Great job out there!

I'm with you Brett, the times need to be disclosed to all drivers. If they don't want under 200 treadwear at the event, we shouldnt be allowed to run or pay our money. I mentioned to Bill that simply printing daily results off a spreadsheet and taping them on the wall would be sufficient. I think they will give us our times just not include them on the results. That's not a problem as I knew I was running non allowed tires when I hitched up the trailer. With that being said, every racer wants to know how they are running and if they are improving.

I am with you Todd, we showed up for as much of a test and tune as for any other reason, we had talked about bringing our own transponder timing equipment but elected to just use the official information as it would be way easier.
with out lap times it makes it impossible to make educated descissions about set ups and the effects of any changes made.
next year we will have our own timing system.
With ninety cars running all over the place it must be very difficult to even keep track of the times. hats off to Bill and his team, as well as the OCRC team it definatly gets better at every event,

Ok so, based on the results board posted from RTTC
I ran some were around a mid 39 in the autocross, some numbers were given to me at the event and my son checked with the timer.
I ran some were around a 143 to 144 in the road course, as when you review Newmans and my road course video, I was able to stay in front of him.
On the speed slalom stop event I ran a 21.4, this information was given to me by several people just as I completed this run. "you just ran 1 tenth faster than tucker and you have the 2nd fastest number of the day"
Im pretty happy with my results.
